The House began debating Bill C-224 this week during Private Members’ Business, and then, as often happens with private members debates, the clock ran out.
Because time expired, Second Reading isn’t finished yet. Debate will resume when C-224 rises again in the Order of Precedence, giving us another critical opportunity to keep the pressure on.
If you haven’t sent your letters yet, please do it now. And if you already have, remember you can return to our 224 action page and send more messages (you’re not limited to just one) to your MP, all party leaders, and members of the Standing Committee on Health. C-224 is still alive, still moving, and with continued pressure, it has a real chance to succeed where C-368 was artificially stopped. Let’s keep the momentum going.

Alors, est-ce que c'est fini pour la pétition sur la Charte ? NON !
La question qui nous a été le plus souvent posée pendant que le Tour se dirigeait vers Ottawa était : « Est-ce qu'il sert encore à quelque chose de continuer à recueillir des signatures ? » La réponse est : Oui.

Sachant que nous allions recevoir un afflux de signatures grâce à la visibilité du Tour, et compte tenu de la grève postale, nous avons demandé un délai pour remettre les pétitions au greffier des pétitions.
Alors continuez à recueillir des signatures et envoyez vos feuilles de pétition – elles seront incluses dans le décompte (qui pourrait atteindre plus de 160 000 signatures !).

Même après l'acceptation des pétitions par le greffier, vous pouvez continuer à recueillir des signatures. Nous devrons mener d'autres actions concernant la Charte et plus il y aura de signatures, mieux ce sera !
