Tonight, I had the opportunity of being a Guest Drum Major of the @nhsband for the Football Game against Putnam City!

This opportunity started with a lucky ticket from a raffle hosted by @nhs_nhba during the NHS Spring Concert last school year, where I won the opportunity to be a Guest Drum Major at one of the next season’s Football Games!

With today being the day for redeeming that lucky ticket, I had such a great time with the rest of the Band! This was my first time being a Drum Major, and I enjoyed re-experiencing my vivid memories of Band from the other side of the stands, as an Alumni!

Again, a big thank you to the @nhsband and the @nhs_nhba for letting me being a Drum Major for a day! It was such a impactful full-circle moment for me and I hope others get the same opportunity in the future!

I attended tonight’s NHS Football Game against Choctaw and spent some time with the @nhsband for 8th Grade Night, but with weather delaying the game, memories from 4 years ago started to replay in my head! As a Junior in Band (Fall 2022), during pregame for the High/North Game, it began to rain with a torrential downpour that severely impacted all of our instruments. This so called “Rain Party” came back for a second time tonight just after having experienced a delay due to lightning. Luckily, the Band was much more cautious this time and the rain didn’t affect the instruments as much as it had 4 years ago, but it would have been great to see the Halftime Show if given the chance. To all the NHS Band Alumni that were here 4 years ago, here is the Rain Party Sequel!

Nothing says Crosstown Clash quite like a little friendly rivalry—and a whole lot of mutual respect! 🧡🖤💚🤍

Our band leadership students were proud to welcome the visiting Norman North Bands with a hospitality basket, celebrating the tradition, talent, and teamwork that make music—and our Norman band community—so special. 🎶

Rivals on the field. Musicians in the same family. Respect always. 🧡💚🎵 #CrosstownClash #NormanBands #BandTogether @nhsband @nnhsbands

At tonight’s band banquet, we had the privilege of honoring two incredible outgoing NHBA board members whose impact on our program has been felt in countless ways. From long hours behind the scenes to cheering on our students, their dedication and leadership has benefitted the Norman High School Bands!

Please join us in Tami Ross and Dr. Catherine Miller for their years of service and leadership! 🧡🖤🎶
