Showing off the corner units of my library today. I didn’t realise how many red books I have that I absolutely love, so decided to put some of them on permanent display! Highly recommend these books and authors ❤️‍🔥

How similar are we? Let me know which you agree or disagree with!

This was hard to narrow down and there’s so many more I wanted to put in each category 😩

I have loved seeing everyone’s posts for this and just had to make my own😁

Review | Fate of the Five - Niamh Rose
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

I properly got in a slump with fantasy & romantasy for a while as I felt like they were all getting a *bit* samey but then I finally picked up Fate of the Five & it. changed. EVERYTHING.

Niamh has me in a chokehold with this book, I am dyyiiinngggg for the sequel. Again another stunning debut here & indie too 👌🏼

Fate of the Five is a high fantasy with multiple povs (which is WILD to write btw), LGBTQIA+, fuuuullll of politics & assassins. What more could could want?

Ngl, I was highly intimidated picking this up. She's a chunky gal with a lot of lore but please don't let that put you off like it did with me! I went in mostly blind & it did not feel like a chunky read at all. I devoured it, the ending left me ILL (I am still not ok Niamh 👀), my attachment to the characters is not healthy & the world building was honestly some of the best I've ever ever read.

FOUR times recently I have had different accounts message to ask if I’d like to pay them to read, review and post about my book, Fate of the Five.

Just a cheeky lil reminder to indie authors to not fall for the bs scammers and ai accounts out there. At first glance an account with 52k+ followers posting your book seems like a great opportunity, and I’m worried some people may fall for it. But the account has literally NO engagement on their posts because their followers are all bought bots. And clearly they can’t do the most basic of research to realise I’m not the author of Fate of The Five💀 ((the talented wonderful @niamhrosewrites is!))

They replied to my last message saying “of course🥰 would you like to move forward?” Baffling

Also that first pic is one of my greatest recent embarrassments… I went to an author event last year and wanted a pic with both authors so naturally I went between them, and my overheated anxious self didn’t realise I had basically overtaken the table and made it look like I was the author((altho now I’m manifesting that😌)). Both authors were so damn kind and didn’t tell me to fuck off, bless them. It was actually one if the best events I’ve been to; the author discussion was fascinating 🧎

Had a chat with my dear friend Niamh Rose, author of Fate of the Five—an epic story filled with rich world-building and unforgettable characters.

We talked about what inspired the story, what it was like creating a whole new world, and what it took to bring the book to life.

Be sure to check Fate of the Five and show @niamhrosewrites some love!

And if you're an indie author who'd like to be considered for a future feature, check out my pinned Indie Author Spotlight post for all the deets on how to submit 🫶🏻

Books you couldn't pay me to...
I love a good trend to hop on and this one was hard to pick my faves since I have so many!

QOTD: Do we have any in common on here??

If some of your faves are on my heck no lists just remember reading is subjective 😌

Books you couldn't pay me too...

Unapologetic about each of these. 😂

I honestly could have done more for each of these prompts, but I decided to stick with four because I was tired when I made it.

But yup! Here they are! Lo and behold!

Some aren't books are just didn't like for content or execution reasons, some are books I literally could not put down and read through in a single sitting or two, some are books by authors I absolutely refuse to support, and some are books that mean oooohhh so much to me.

Bookish friends, not only are there options for where to purchase new and used books online, most of these (with the exception of Alibris and PangoBooks) also participate in climate and social initiatives including being B Corp certified and partnering with non-profits centered around reading and literacy.

Is it more of an effort to buy from somewhere other than Amazon? Oftentimes, yes, but those extra few minutes of digging could help redirect where our money is going and who it benefits. And don’t forget that one of the best ways to support authors is to purchase directly from their websites!

As an aside, this is not an attempt to discredit the benefits of Amazon for indie authors who self-publish—I have a Prime membership that I use almost exclusively for KU for that exact reason. But, where we can, we should try to support artists directly as well as businesses that give back to the community.
