Grateful for an opportunity to connect with @govwesmoore and fellow Howard County Democrats as we look ahead to November.

Always good to see Bro. Governor.

After 14+ years working in Maryland’s public sector, across Prince George’s, Howard, and now Anne Arundel Counties, I’ve attended my share of MACo Summer Conferences.

But this year felt different.

I came to Ocean City with both the perspective of a county administrator and the perspective of someone preparing to serve in elected office. That gave me a different lens on the conversations about what counties are facing and the work ahead for both Howard County and Anne Arundel County.

This year’s theme, “Build What’s Next,” felt especially relevant. We cannot build stronger communities in silos. Counties sit at the center of so much of what shapes daily life: schools and public facilities, housing, water and infrastructure, transportation, energy, economic development, and increasingly, the challenges presented by data centers and a changing electric grid.

Good local government requires us to see the bigger picture and understand how decisions about land use, infrastructure, housing, transportation, sustainability, and economic development connect to one another and affect people’s everyday lives.

And MACO is always a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and former colleagues from across Maryland.

I left Ocean City with a lot of ideas, conversations to continue, and an even greater appreciation for the work ahead.

Six years ago, a conversation with @babaofhh about Barbados' Crop Over harvest festival sparked an idea.

Crop Over celebrates the harvest and the people whose labor brings it to life. In 2020, that spirit inspired us to create something rooted right here in Howard County: a gathering centered on food, fellowship, and community.

Last Friday, we celebrated the @naacphoco @carvercsa 6th Annual Salad & Sangria Social at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center.

What started as a simple idea has become a tradition that carries us joyfully into summer. Neighbors come together to share fresh food, build relationships, and celebrate the community we've cultivated together.

I've always believed strong communities are built village by village, neighbor by neighbor, and relationship by relationship. Events like this remind us that community is not something we inherit. It is something we create together.

Thank you to everyone who has helped grow this tradition over the years .

Here's to another summer of community, fellowship, and growing together. 🥗🍅🌱🫜✊🏾

Community. Conversation. Collective action.

Last night’s @nphc_hoco Meet and Greet and Voter Registration Drive at Oversea Distillery + Bar was a powerful reminder that our community is paying attention and ready to engage.

From thoughtful conversations at every table to direct dialogue with candidates about the future of Howard County, the energy in the room reflected something important: people want leadership that listens, shows up, and delivers. Voting is not just about Election Day. It is about building an informed, connected, and engaged community every single day.

Thank you to the Howard County National Pan Hellenic Council for creating space for meaningful civic engagement and to every resident who came out and made their voice heard.

Howard County is ready for what comes next. 🗳️✨✊🏾
