Music Industry Arts at Algonquin College has been such a meaningful part of my life and not only in learning new skills and developing knowledge in music but creating a bond among different people who are just like me at the same time. Not only am I proud of this video (which I also learned how to edit through a class in the program) but I’m proud of everyone that’s in it (and the other classes of course!!) ❤️💪🏽

As a group of artists we’ve created while collaborating ideas, learning along the way and continuously supporting one another. This program was a place for me to feel comfortable, silly, creative and be myself. A place of belonging. I’m sure many people can relate to this because MIA had a sense of family and belonging around all types of mentalities and creatives. A place to express. In the arts, connection and socioculture spaces is what pushes and shapes various art forms. These aren’t things to be overlooked. They are to be valued for there’s no stronger impact on music than human connection. These kinds of programs within our society and the city of Ottawa, are integral to our community, growth and fostering of creativity. Please consider the importance of this program from all aspects. @musicindustryarts @algonquincollege @chilipeppers #miamatters #musicindustryarts #algonquincollege #ottawa

I think it is so beautiful how life is all these interconnecting lines. A year ago, I saw a silly advertisement that took me to this place. I met the owners and had the loveliest of conversations. This meant that a year later, when everything was cold and damp at the campground, we knew of a place to go and escape the rain.

We were talking on the drive about how relationships with some people can feel so deep that the rare occurrences of seeing them feel like a year of friendship and visits compacted into one moment. It’s amazing that a physical place can hold so much magic that it can also fill up my cup for another year before coming back, yet it feels like we’re regulars who go every weekend.

I asked Andrea to surprise me with any coffee drink and they made me a barista special. It was so fancy in the martini glass. It didn’t have to come that way, but that extra bit of thought and care made it really feel special. It was the perfect sweetness. Everything was the perfect sweetness about this place. Thank you for letting Nick play out their heart and thank you for saving us from the cold. Thank you for making Sam’s birthday so special. And for just creating a place like this. Even though it’s far from home, it makes me feel so safe and warm to know places like this exist in the world.
