I spent too long fighting tooth & nail, trying to convince those around me I wasn’t crazy, I wasn’t irresponsible, and I wasn’t overreaching

It was just over 4 years ago I took hold of my life 🙏🏼

I opened my eyes, jumped out of the back seat, crawled to the front and took the damn wheel with both hands! 🙌

I didn’t want to settle down, get a ‘safe’ job or have a ‘good enough’ relationship

I stopped myself.

I caught myself in the white picket fence ideologies, 9-5 “security” & the start a family & settle down stage 🏡

(Side note: there is NOTHING wrong with that life IF that is the life you TRULY want) 💫

So I chased my passions, pushed myself out of every comfort zone I had, reset, withdrew, and then I threw everything I had back into the world and into myself.

I didn’t settle. I fought, I howled, I looked within myself, and I went after everything I could imagine

(and asked for a lot of help and guidance to help me imagine greater)

I’m creating a beautiful life full of wonder, adventure, empowerment, growth, fulfilment, teaching, transformation, knowledge, abundance, freedom and joy 🌎

And I can genuinely say I love where I am, I love who I am, I love who I am becoming and who I have yet even to imagine I could be

How to survive & *thrive* when your life partner is also your business partner ⬇️

1️⃣ Make sure that the foundation of the relationship is solid outside of what happens with the business

When a business venture fails or doesn’t go to plan, you don’t want that to mean the relationship fails or suffers as well.

Having a solid foundation and understanding of your partner personally before going into business is vital.

2️⃣ Map out your personal & business goals & visions for the next 1, 5, 10 & 20 years.

It’s best to know your visions for the future intimately. And make sure they’re aligned. Marriage/kids/house/income, even retirement visions.

3️⃣ Define roles and responsibilities.

Our approach was more art than science. We decided to divide and conquer in accordance with our skill sets, which, fortunately, are complementary.

I take care of sales, operations & client support, while Nic focuses on marketing, business growth and tech.

4️⃣ Discuss how to support each other during challenging times, both in the business & in the relationship

How do you both cope during stressful situations, what it looks like, how do you personally work through it, and how best to support one another in those tricky situations.

5️⃣ Put time aside for romance, intimacy & adventure outside of work.

Now while my partner and I don’t have much of a ‘work/life balance, as our work is a big part of our lives and what gives us passion & purpose, it is essential to allow time for intimacy and relationship development outside of work—

Stepping away from the office role and spending time to be romantic without the pressure, stress and responsibility of running a business fade into the background. Allowing time to be silly.

🌟 Set up regular check-ins

For us, it’s every morning over ample coffee ☕️

We share our plans for the day, goals for the week, and what we are doing to move forward.

We can then see if we need to change our plans to complement one another or give each other the space to do our tasks for the day.

Then around 4pm going for a walk and headed to dinner, sharing how our day’s work & vision unfolded🍷

The unexpected story of how I met my life & business partner 👇🏼

I met Nic the way any normal woman meets a man these days…

An Australian outback bush festival 😄

At this stage, I was a broke uni student working two bar jobs & taking on any and all photography opportunities I could ($200 mini anyone?)

I struggled with serious imposter syndrome, fear of failure (before really starting) & had 0️⃣ business skills.

In short, I was lost… fast forward to image #2, where I had just quit my jobs, deferred my degree, booked a one-way ticket to India and shaved my head 😅

It’s here I came to know myself & my desires deeply, away from expectations & status quo.

It’s also here that I opened up to Nic about my ordeal, with fear of ending up back behind a bar, I was open to anything.

With a background in marketing within his own business, he offered help (learning from the same companies that taught Uber & Shopify; I was very reluctant because he didn’t know a thing about photography 😳

Fast forward to now, 3 years after we decided to blend my photography, nurturing & artistry skills with his marketing & business knowledge!

Not only did we manage to build a photography business that brought in over $300k in its first year, but that financial freedom has allowed us to reclaim our lives & travel all over the world ✈️ 🌍 (Currently living on a island in Thailand)!

Most importantly, through making this life of abundance & growth, we have empowered over 200 women along the way. Making an income while making an impact.

While also being the only photography education mentorship in the world with a 100% client success rate, unlimited 1:1 support & without the burnout

(with the average artist completing our program having made $30k revenue & a far more balanced life)
