Had a wonderful birthday this week and got to celebrate it with so many wonderful people! Look at how lucky i am! A bunch of friends came out for ice cream, Casey and Natalie even baked cookies which i am still eating! I got a birthday song from Alexis & April & Dante! I got smashed in jiu jitsu by world class 5am maniacs! Earlier this month I got to have ice cream with my mom and dad and sisters and nieces and nephews and college friends and their families! I got FaceTimes from my sisters and their kids (sorry i didn't screen grab our call Taylor, I plugged in a photo of Murph to place hold)! Then i notched another week passing on my calendar that reminds me to stay present, grounded, and focused. My current favorite motivational quote is: Fix the leak before you fill the bucket- which means that quitting your worst habit(s) will have a bigger effect on your life than finding new positive ones; so before you fill the bucket, fix the leaks.

2025 Ibjff Atlanta Winter Open: 🥈! Bjj competitions get your heart pumping! I’m still very new to this but enjoy a challenge so i signed up for the Winter Open despite being out several months last year with a fractured thumb. Legitimately surprised and really pleased with how i did. Matches are in order: a win via armbar a win via a sloppy Canto choke (he went unconscious, first time and legit just a bit scary but he’s fine, he was also going to win and had been beating me the whole round) a loss where i tapped to a choke. Then we celebrated at Grindhouse burgers here in Atl with the 5am bjj crew. Forgive me for not having everyone tagged! I had never tried Jiu Jitsu at all until i moved to Atlanta, shout out to @nicalarcon for talking me into it and training me, as well as Master Traven and everyone at Team Octapus.

Proud Teammate. Grateful Competitor. Today was a good day for Team Roberto Traven! So proud of all my teammates who put it on the line and gave it their all. Big shoutout to the 0500 crew for stepping out of comfort zones and going to battle—iron sharpens iron! Truth be told, I fight so hard because my kids now believe that me competing = medals (😅). First IBJJF competition since September—thankful for the journey. On to the next! #JiuJitsu #PressureAndFlowJJ #TeamRobertoTraven #IBJJF

Atlanta’s ‘Snowmageddon 2025’: the city panics, the grind doesn’t stop. ❄️💥 With the kids home for a ‘snow day’ (will it even stick though? 🤔), I had to carve out time to stay on track—05:00am training hits different when personal development is on the line. Whether it’s prepping for the next BJJ comp or just setting the tone for the day, the work starts here. Big shoutout to Coach Nick Alarcón for always creating a space where we can push limits and level up. 💪 Who’s putting in work today, snow or not? #0500CuddleCrew #BJJPrep #CrossFitRx #KeepGrinding #SnowDayHustle”
