When we started Brothers Brunch Vancouver, the idea was simple: bring Black professional men together over a good meal, reduce isolation and create more opportunities for us to collaborate rather than operate in silos, it was unclear as to where it would lead. Today we're grateful that the table has gotten bigger. We now have opportunities to build community and showcase Black, African & Caribbean Canadian excellence through conversations about mental wellness, civic engagement, entrepreneurship and connection.

None of this happens alone. Thank you to the Black Arts Centre, and the Guests of Honour: Vancouver City Councillor @ptfry ,White Rock City Councillor @votebilllawrence, City of Langley Mayor @nathan.pachal , SD.43 School board Trustee Candidate @candace.knoll , Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Candidate @birdforparkboard ,New Westminster City Councillor Candidate @bereketneh , City of North Vancouver Mayoral Candidate @seanfornorthvan , VSB Trustee candidate @amarysera888 & City of Port Coquitlam City Councillor Candidate @deharathompson4poco - who recently joined us for REPRESENTED.

But we also want to to show love to the late and great Nalda Perry-Callender whose work with the National Congress of Black Women Canada, helped show us what sustained community-building can look like. In many ways, the work we're doing today is a disciple of that legacy.

What started as sharing a meal has become something much larger.

I’m grateful for where we've come from, the people building alongside us, and what we're continuing to build together.

Last week, we gathered for REPRESENTED: a non-partisan forum creating space for engaging directly in conversations about civic leadership + public service.

The National Congress of Black Men Canada (NCBMC) extends our sincere appreciation to our supporters, donors, volunteers and special Guests of Honour who helped make the evening possible.

Our momentum continues to grow. From community connection and mental wellness to civic engagement, entrepreneurship and professional networking, we are committed to creating meaningful spaces where Black Canadians across British Columbia can connect, contribute and lead.

REPRESENTED was another step in that work and we’re just getting started.

Thank you to everyone investing their time, resources and belief in this growing community.

A few moments from our recent strategic meeting with Trustees, partners and guests.

It was a great opportunity to come together, share ideas, ask questions and look ahead.

Our Trustees care deeply about the members they represent, and that shows in the time, thought and attention they bring to these conversations.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the day.

This September in partnership with @theblackartscentre, we're bringing together an inspiring group of Black elected officials, political candidates, and civic leaders for "Represented: A Political Community Forum", the first event of its kind in British Columbia.

Confirmed guests include Mayor Nathan Pachal, City Councillor Bill Lawrence, City Councillor Pete Fry, Shayla Bird, Sean Alexander, and Bereket Kebede, with additional speakers to be announced.

This non-partisan community event is open to everyone. Whether you're interested in public service, civic engagement, or simply hearing directly from leaders shaping communities across British Columbia, we invite you and your family, to join us for an evening of meaningful conversation, networking, and connection.

This isn't about endorsing political parties. It's about increasing civic participation and celebrating the growing diversity of leadership in our province.

Attendance is intentionally limited to create a meaningful and engaging experience, so early registration is encouraged.

Late 2025, Brothers Brunch Vancouver had the honour of hosting Lesra Martin (the lawyer whose story inspired Denzel Washington’s film 'The Hurricane').

An intimate conversation about resilience, purpose, identity, and what it means for men to heal, lead, and grow in community.

We create Powerful rooms for Powerful conversations.

At our Feb 2025 gathering, we celebrated the power of Black male leadership + economic solidarity — intentional connection fuels stronger community economies + representation. Research shows Black entrepreneurs in Canada continue to face systemic barriers + need expanded networks and support to thrive.

We were proud to support @chefcullindavid at Calabash Bistro, championing Black-owned business excellence and community wealth building.
