@ndrikaanyika here with my final post for the week before I handover to the talented @jenniferatchesondop

This post includes a few sneak peeks from some films that are still in post production.

Posting on @illuminatrix_rising_dops this week has been a lovely exercise in taking stock of what I’ve been up to and reminiscing about the chaotic and equally cathartic experiences that come with being a DoP.

It has allowed me to look through my past and current work and has highlighted that not only am I drawn to work that challenges conformity and exposes negative societal norms but I cherish working with lovely people. I get the feeling that my career will be an eclectic catalogue of films that the manosphere will hate and I take great pride in that.

Finally, I often have young women, especially women of colour, express to me how they are not confident enough or technical enough to become a DoP, which usually leads to a 5-minute motivational speech from me 😅.

I believe my lived experience helps me to empathise with the eclectic characters in the scripts I read and also lends itself to the complexity and nuance required to foster a positive environment on set.

So, for the people who have not grown up in creative circles and for people who think cinematography is not for them, I can say whole heartedly that it very, absolutely, most definitely is.

Thanks for sticking around this week. You can find more of my work on ndrika.com. Don’t hesitate to reach out - contact@ndrika.com 😻

I couldn't move any stunt mats or do my own flies up as I had my nails done 🤭

I could write a thousand motivational words to caption this post and feed the algorithm with the "right" phrases to get you to stop and engage - but instead, I'm going to let the incredibly lovely words of @niccy.lin speak for her experience during this recent portrait session.

What I love about this particular shoot is that Niccy and I had never met prior to this session - but after a few pre shoot voice notes, I just knew it would be a blast working with her.

Client testimonials honestly mean the world to freelance artists - so thank YOU Niccy 💖.
