A full gut renovation by @nicholas_obeid, where sculptural forms, richly veined stone, and beautiful material contrasts give each space its own character. Patinated brass cabinetry brings warmth to the kitchen, while a thoughtful sequence of hallways and baths leads into expansive, light-filled rooms framed by century-old beams.

A 1910 structural canvas calibrated to a softer, human scale.

Within a historic Brooklyn shell, Studio Nicholas Obeid reimagines a cavernous Williamsburg footprint by allowing original wood beams and low-slung pendants to dictate spatial rhythm and intimacy. A newly stepped hallway introduces a narrative of slow discovery, ensuring light moves uninhibited across the entire plan.

The kitchen departs from utility to read as sculptural furniture, anchored by an asymmetrical palette of bleached ash, fumed oak, and a warm brass-clad hood. Faceted surfaces and horizontal hardware quietly mirror the structural geometry above, while travertine serves as a tactile thread, threading through rooms and bisecting deep marble accents.

A study in contrast where industrial heritage meets precise, atmospheric softness.

In this Williamsburg loft, sculptural cuisine becomes the meeting point of art, design, and conviviality.

There is a long-standing debate over the role of the kitchen. For young singles, it can often feel like an underused, trivial space. For others, however, it is the heart of the home—a natural gathering spot for cooking, hanging out, and catching up. Ultimately, a kitchen’s functionality depends on its users, but design remains paramount in either case. The owner of this dreamy New York loft firmly subscribes to the latter view; their passion for cooking and entertaining directly guided the home’s transformation.

“Central to the main living area, the kitchen was designed to be experienced like an exhibition piece,” explains designer Nicholas Obeid.

Spanning 158m2 flooded with natural light, the space features 4.5-meter-high ceilings anchored by original, century-old wooden beams. Following a complete gut renovation, the gleaming kitchen reads like fine exhibition piece. Obeid thoughtfully sequenced the hallway and bathrooms to create a sense of discovery, drawing visitors forward toward the dramatic, sunlit main space.

The designer curated an exquisitely hybrid interior, seamlessly interweaving the historic building’s industrial character with refined Italian references—such as the subtle nod to Villa Necchi Campiglio via rich travertine in the bathrooms. Outfitted with a blend of vintage pieces and custom designs by Obeid himself, the result is a deeply sensual, tactile environment that remains entirely practical—built to be lived in and enjoyed in tranquility by host and guest alike.

We can’t stop thinking about this remarkable Williamsburg loft, where designer @nicholas_obeid brings together the raw character of early 20th-century New York architecture with the refined elegance of Italian design.

A beautiful exploration of materiality, proportion, and texture, where our marble undeniably steals the show. From the striking kitchen to the exquisitely detailed bathrooms, every space reveals a thoughtful dialogue between architectural heritage and contemporary expression.

Rich textures, unexpected contrasts, and beautifully composed materials come together in a home that feels both artistic and deeply personal.

A remarkable vision, beautifully brought to life.

3 Ways to Instantly Elevate Your Home
Swipe for the details ...

Adding the right-sized rug (I always like to go a little bigger so that the rug captures the room properly) adds texture and warmth to a space.

You can also play with the style of the rug to give the room its essence and personality. For me, a rug is an essential in almost every room - it helps make the space feel complete.

Adding full length curtains helps the room feel fuller and more intentional. The length creates depth and it gives the illusion of having bigger windows.

They also add texture and allow you to dress not only the windows, but the walls around them as well.

Layered lighting - such an important detail!

Moving away from the big central light and creating intentional zones with different light sources, such as table lamps, floor lamps and sconces creates a much warmer and cozier mood.

This allows you to put emphasis on a certain elements or areas while also creating a mood for the room as a whole.
