The POWERHOUSE that is De-Rance Blaylock absolutely SHUT IT DOWN this weekend in Team M the Musical performing one of the signature songs of the show, “The Storm.” Hearing De-Rance sing, “Every storm runs out of rain…” was both healing and deeply moving.

That lyric sits at the heart of what Team M is about…hope. Even in the middle of struggle, pain, anxiety, depression, grief, or uncertainty, storms do not last forever. There is still light ahead. There is still healing ahead.

My prayer is that this song encourages anyone currently battling mental health challenges to keep holding on. You are not alone.

De-Rance, thank you for bringing such honesty, vulnerability, power, and soul to Rose and to this music. Your performance left a lasting impact on every audience that experienced it.

“Every storm runs out of rain…” I do own the rights to this music 💚

This weekend was surreal.

After five years of living inside my imagination, Team M the Musical finally made its world premiere at COCA… and I honestly still can’t process what it felt like watching this story come alive on stage.

Creating new work is vulnerable, exhausting, beautiful labor. To see audiences connect with a story centered around mental health, healing, identity, and acceptance reminded me why art matters so deeply.

So grateful to EVERYONE who helped bring this production to life — our creative team, tech team, musicians, operations staff, marketing team, front of house staff, and the incredible cast: Noah, Duane, Dorrian, Sarah, Nikki, Nikki, Stephan, De-Rance, and Langston. You all were phenomenal.

Special thanks to Shawna Flanigan, Michael Beatty, Steve Hartman, Randal Herndon, Carolyn Carter, Cameron Tesson (who somehow built THAT set in 24 hours!), Justin Foster, Jayson Lawshle, Jacqueline Thompson, Alerica Anderson, Alisa Cooper, and Noah for those BEAUTIFUL orchestrations.

And to my tribe… thank you for carrying me through this weekend.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude and so proud of what we created together.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
