100 Shows.

It was only supposed to be 52. As artists, it is so rare that we get to revisit things. Let alone something this special.

I will have sooooo much more to say when we close up the doctor’s office in three weeks (🥺), but I will always be grateful to have lived this dream with my best friends. I will never be the same. ❤️

Jekyll and Hyde! One full trip around the sun with the music living rent free in my head. Thank you! @kokandyprods, the cast, the crew, and especially @scotkokandy and @nick.sula for letting me live out my silly little childhood dream with the best people imaginable.

I mean….THIS SHOW! THIS CAST!
@kokandyprods’ Jekyll & Hyde continues to WOW audiences!
Insane talent on stage and behind stage!
I’d like to see this company tour or go off-broadway….more than Chicago needs to see them!
I didn’t even pick a song with actual singing because it would not be this actual company singing…cause I don’t have access to that!
Bottom line….go see these stars at the #broadwayinchicago playhouse now through 11/8!

My August–September theatre recap, featuring unforgettable performances that kept me leaning in, and design details I’m still thinking about. It’s unbelievable how much talent lives inside this city!
So much love for the artists onstage, in the orchestra, and behind the scenes who made these experiences possible. These are just a few of the moments that stayed with me! If I mentioned you but couldn’t find your account to tag, DM me and I’ll add you 🤍

What shows should be on my October list?🍂

Kokandy’s superb production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE is not to be missed. The work of this gifted ensemble is excellent, as always, but seeing this musical in the intimate setting of the Chopin Theatre is a revelation. Kevin Webb and Missy Wise Vanderzee offer a George and Dot with shadings I have never seen, individually in each well-drawn character and in the chemistry between them. Director Derek Van Barham is in absolute control of this palette, the quirky space at the Chopin, the fine actor/singers, the elegance and the surprise of the design. Nick Sula’s musical direction is stunning, and Evelyn Ryan at the keyboard and conducting the chamber ensemble is a skilled interpreter of the lush score. With the excellent sound design of Matt Reich, realized by sound engineer Hannah Kwak, I did not miss a note or a lyric. Kokandy is calling this their season of color and light, and this production is bathed in both. It is now extended to November 29th and I may well go back for another visit. In a world where it can feel hard to be anywhere right now, to spend 2 and a half hours with these artists in the Chopin Theatre is a tonic for the soul.

A little bit late, but Jekyll & Hyde Opening 2.0 was so great! So thankful to be part of this epic remount, this time with Broadway in Chicago at the Broadway Playhouse. I couldn’t be more grateful and happy to be back with this show and so much love to cast, crew, and orchestra who make the magic happen every night.
