🎶 Nick Schofield’s most recent release Blue Hour sees the Gatineau-based “ambassador of ambient music” veer into the world of ambient jazz. The album, an ode to Miles Davis’ In A Silent Way, sees the synthesist move behind the drums, Nick’s childhood instrument.

Nick recently joined Apt613 to talk about Blue Hour’s improvised jazz, a well-played soundtrack, what’s coming up, as well as some of the albums that are important to him.

This is what live accompaniment looks like. 🎹✨

Amazingly talented Nick Schofield improvising a completely original score to Oskar Fischinger’s Optical Poem — live, in the moment, and never to be repeated exactly the same way.

What an incredible way to close out our season with Ottawa Chamberfest at Beechwood Cemetery.
