I had the honor of being interviewed for the Tunerzine Origins feature on their newly relaunched tunerzine.com website that showcases events and builds from 2004. They are on a mission to preserve the history of car culture with their photography and articles that was previously featured on all of the popular sport compact magazines and websites that no longer exist from that era.

I got to explain the origins of drifting in the US from the mid 90’s and the significant first drift events that occurred from 2002 on. The influence of Option Video and D1GP had on early US drivers. There were organizations and companies like Speedtrails USA, Drift Association, Falken Tires, RS-R, APEXi, Slipstream Global, and more that contributed to the early growth of drifting in the US. Some insider perspectives of the D1GP USA, GT Live and Formula Drift series and some of the pro drift teams that competed in that era and how it first became internationally recognized.

I broke down the early car build styles and how it evolved through the different eras and the drift engine evolutions. The difference in chassis setup of the early days compared to the modern setups and some mentions of my resurrection of my Falken / CW Mazda FD3S and the builders that are involved.

I am incredibly grateful and honored to have this feature done and the amazing 80+ image gallery of the Team Falken drift cars including the Falken G35, RX7, S13 and S15 that I drove from 2004-2009. Thank you @tunerzine, I’m so glad to see an OG website that came back to preserve our car culture stories for us and the next generation to enjoy.
