I lost the plot this year. I fell so hard into work, I didn’t look up often enough to laugh with you all. But I’ve worked hard to keep my center, remember that no is a full sentence, and that kindness outlives almost everything else.

I feel wholly underqualified to be 36, but I’m gonna give it my best go ;)

What does a fashion designer, architect, or author keep on their desk? What kind of tools, ephemera, or tech is crucial to keep creativity flowing?

Last month, I posed the question to a dozen multidisciplinary designers, artists, and writers: what’s on your desk? What can’t you work without?

The answers are surprising and inspiring…work snacks, fragrances, tarot decks, vintage tech; impromptu setups curated with as much intentionality as dedicated wfh offices.

Celebrating the small milestones to remind myself of all the hard work. I Glitter Rinsed Repeated a tablescape with trinkets and ware from my apartment for a night with my album story editor. Repurposing provides a compassionate glamour even @marthastewart48 would be proud of, over and over and over.

Thank you for thinking this song is “a very good thing” and showing it all the love. We’ve got more just around the corner.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 Fantastic to kick it off at Julius’ with this cake (in green to honor @juliusbarnyc) featuring illustrations of sites from @stephendavan.art’s NYC Pride series (used with permission ☺️). Clockwise from too: The LGBT Community Center, Stonewall, the Piers, Julius’ itself, the NYC AIDS Memorial, and Columbia University’s Earl Hall (location of the first gay student group). Even more important — the people around the cake!
