Why is Nami high? Well, because I suspect my suspicion that she has been hosting a kitty fight club under the trees is correct. She came home Friday morning after a long night out and seemed fine. A little rumpled but good.

Then she slept allllllll day. Which should be “normal” for a cat. Not mine though. She is usually a menace for a while during the day.

By Friday night her leg was swollen twice its normal size. Ugh. We gave it overnight to see if it was a temp reaction then I got to spend 6 hours at e-vet on what should have been an amazing outdoor date day. Oh and $800.

She’s fine.

She got bit by something. Another cat in a fight? Doesn’t seem like it. It seems the little fight club hooligans have begun to bring in other species to their club. In the name of equity or challenge? I don’t know.

Since I’m pretty sure she is the fight organizer and not the main event, I can only imagine someone was mad at an outcome and got revenge. Not sure I’ll ever know.

So she’s been high on pain meds since Saturday. Sleeping with her eyes open. And then her boy showed up with weird hair and really messed with her head. 🤭

Never a dull moment with these creatures (or kid!).

A Full Year

It’s been a full year.
A year full of change and growth.
A year full of learning to trust.
A year full of building new structures while old ones burn.

A year where we were asked to get very real about who we are as us and individuals.

And we are still here.
Loving.
Continuing to learn and grow.
Holding each other accountable.
Lifting each other up.
Allowing for fuckups.
Repairing the rifts.

You’ve healed what you didn’t break, and I have as well. The patience and impatience that forced conversations we didn’t want to have but needed to.

I am grateful for every moment we’ve had. And look forward to those that come.

I love you @nickschultzmusic

A year ago, I didn’t know you. We were both in very different places in our lives. It seems impossible to consider life without you now. I didn’t think I’d ever say that again. Thank you my love. For healing, loving, and growing with me, thank you.

In a week we celebrate one year of togetherness and unfollow now if you don’t want to see a bunch of sappy shit because I’m gonna share it.

This is my big brother. I’m not sure exactly what his name is: Bro, Dude, chocolate hippo, bubba, why are you like this?, move my dude, or big guy. It might also be Walter.

I don’t know but he does love his face rubs.

And those face rubs should be mine. 😈 plans must be made.

Chocolate Hippo Defeats Panties in Gastro War!

The most mundane few seconds you’ll ever watch. And yet, it allowed me to breathe fully for the first time in a few days.

Walter had not eaten since Thursday. If you know Walter, you know what a weird thing this is. But that very characteristic of our chocolate hippo is why Walter went without for so long.

Walter doesn’t limit his gastro adventures to mere food. Walter enjoys special treats. Walter, is a panty eater.

I have had many adventures as a result of Walter’s, let’s just call it what it is - it’s a fetish. I have pulled them from his booty while on a walk because they got stuck mid-dookie and his panicked eyes begged me for help. I have had them get caught in the mower blade when they sneak attacked from a pile hidden under a flop of grass. I’ve had a patchwork quilt of color reveal on my back lawn after a cold winter.

My biggest fear was he’d get one bound in his intestines. That his passion would become his nightmare. It almost did.

He started throwing up Wednesday. We went to the emergency vet Saturday to find that he did have some panties in that gut. The good news: he wasn’t blocked. Yet, he still felt awful.

Some anti-nausea medication and hydration on board, we’ve been trying to had feed a syringe hydrate him ever since. He has slept a lot. And eaten maybe an ounce of meat. I was getting very concerned as I saw his body began to shrink.

Last night, we smeared peanut butter on the roof of his mouth in desperation. Trying to convince him it’s safe to eat. He won’t throw up. It won’t hurt. Have I mentioned he’s a bit neurotic?

This morning, as I filled food bowls, he came out to investigate. I played it cool. Like it was normal, while I squealed with joy inside. Would he really eat? Would I get to take a deep breath finally?

As he took in the ground turkey and small amount of kibble, I almost cried and my face hurt from smiling.

Chocolate hippo is on the mend! Guard your dinner plates.

And your panties 😏
