There’s nothing quite like 16mm film. You can’t replicate it. And while I love shooting on film for a number of aesthetic reasons, I’ve always loved the environment it creates amongst everyone on set. Time is money and with only a couple rolls we had a finite number of takes to get it just right. - DP @zack.mizurik @palejaymusic’s IN LIMBO | 250D 16mm director: @shotby_nick producer: @byechristo dp: @zack.mizurik ac: @fiokarpenko steadi: @hgrenier gaffer: @johnshutika pd: @glassofficial color: @connorjbailey @housepost scan: @preservefilm label: @coleminerecords #ShotOnFilm #16mm

Our first shoot with @lucaschumbo for “CHUMBO” was just before he became a dad. And, honestly, it ended up being my favorite scene in the film. I had first met Lucas post-COVID, filming another series that he featured heavily in for @redbullsurfing, but we hadn’t spent a ton of time together (read little-to-no time) before shooting this scene. Here was this young invincible, the best in the world at what he does — at the peak of his powers as an athlete — about to go through a life changing experience, and yet he was so vulnerable with our cameras. So real. No guard up. No filter. Graciously letting us into his world at a moment most would prefer to not. But that’s Lucas. That’s why we, I, have so much respect and love for him as a human being. He’s the realest. We would continue filming with him over the next two years, documenting his life in full — which included the birth of not one, but two children. So grateful to Lucas and Monise for allowing us the privilege of capturing these especially intimate life moments. Big ups to @shotby_nick and @yuneskhader for being such great flies on the wall. Watch the full film, “CHUMBO”, now playing on @redbull TV.
