“I always thought he’d be a hell of a coach. He saw things on field others didn’t see”

“The culture he brings. Just bringing in the right people and making sure they fit his system but putting a heavy aspect on making sure they are good person and good teammate”

Our Men’s team was led by @nicky_flash_jon from 2019-2024, but he’s done much more than that, having been a member of @riverhoundssc himself prior. This @opencup matchup means a little more to him:

“Playing in the Open Cup in 2024 with SCFC was special—it felt like a statement. For a club built on grit and belief, stepping onto that stage for the first time showed how far we’d come and what’s possible when a community backs its own.

Seeing us do it again, this time against the Riverhounds, it hits differently. I’ve worn both crests, so I know the pride and standards each club carries. That’s what makes this one unique for me.

To see Steel City back in the Open Cup for a second time isn’t just a moment, it’s growth. It’s proof 2024 wasn’t a one-off. And getting to share that stage with Pittsburgh’s professional club is amazing.”

2024 was our introduction to the @opencup. It raised the standard for us. On March 17, we get another chance to test ourselves again.

We’re the underdogs once again, but that’s the beauty of it. Anything can happen across 90 minutes of cup football.

A little #throwbackthursday action, back to 2023 for the first two games I ever shot for the Steel City FC Men’s team. See some of your favorites looking just a little bit younger.
