What a perfect thrill to share the stage with you, @deveauxstockton and @breathinglightoctaves

Thank you so much @thegibbesmuseum for hosting such a joyous salon, we loved every second!

@nickysack thank you for your beautiful gaze, your magic presence, and this picture ♥️ @abby.lila can’t wait to read alongside you a little further down the road - until then, I just adore spending time with you!

Yacht rock, a rare snow, and so many other good memories mixed up in this roller coaster of a year. ✨

Last night we made magic :)

Surrounded by cats, plants, and @abby.lila’s darkly evocative paintings, some of the most cherished women in my life and I held a circle. I gave a reading, and then we talked about the first episode of Smoke & Honey… for four hours!

There is an out of body quality to flow states. This often happens when I write, to the extent that later I won’t remember having writing certain passages at all. Tom Waits calls this experience ‘going to the meadow’ -

As we spoke, a candle caught fire. Lights flickered. And we went to the meadow.

This is how it began…

A few weeks ago, I mentioned to @nickysack that I’m calling in Courage as my word for 2026. Specifically, the courage to keep sharing the story with new readers, rather than just immediately diving headlong into writing Book Three.

Hearing me daydream about this aloud, Nicole and Tina @tinamacdona immediately turned to one another and said,

“Why not now? Let’s have a book club for it.”

It was transcendent, stepping into the world of Smoke & Honey with you. Your insights, your presence, your curiosity is a joy; I’m profoundly grateful to have you in my corner!

As I finish edits on Book 2, I’m getting closer to actively sharing Book 1 here, and beyond … This page is to help me feel less shy about unabashedly sharing my writing with other fantasy bookworms 🥰

Welcome to Smoke & Honey world!

Not pictured, but very much with us for this first escapade: @rrose604, @kimalange, and @baqshiliving. Loving you!

Happens every time I step into @Sephora. I should be checking things off my daughter’s Christmas list, but instead I’m doing this.

Thanks to @nickysack for happily going on this journey with me. 😉
