BEHIND THE PHOTO. Ever wondered what it takes to freeze an adventure in the air?

My process is a mix of chaos and spontaneity. Since I started flying, I’ve been obsessed with documenting my winged adventures. These aren’t staged nor planned shoots; ideas come in the air, requiring quick synchronicity with a crew that is the most important piece of this creative puzzle. I fly with people I trust and who love the adventure as much as I do. Thank you, guys and girls. You know who you are! ;-)

To get the shot, I need a wing that transmits all the possible information so I can sense the air and find the best windows to fly hands-free and focus on the frame. I’ve stuck with the @ozoneparagliders Zeolite series for years because its handling allows me to enjoy the flight to the fullest while I’m hunting to freeze the next moment.

I still carry my old-school DSLR. On week-long missions in freezing temps, I need something that won’t die on me when the battery drops. It’s bulky, which offers more stability while shooting, and it is bulletproof in this environment.

The real battle, though, is the cold. My hands are always the first to go, but @theheatcompany gloves have been a lifesaver for keeping my fingers moving long enough to hit the shutter.

It’s a lot of flying, gear, and a lot of “luck,” but when it all aligns, it’s magic.

It would have been six years. Even though my contract officially began in January, 2021, I started to collaborate with AirDesign one year before with the launch of the Rise 4. The brand strategy framework had just been redefined with the motto #breakyourownrules and I was still a neuroscientist at that time. My mission? To create a web page that breaks the rules. I used the holidays to find a new way to present a paraglider, far from what the competitors were usually doing. I decided to write a short story to introduce the Rise 4, interviewed the designer to capture the soul of the wing and I highlighted the interesting details with some « did you know? » specific text boxes.

Here are some memories and behind the scenes from my time at AD.

The new UFO was the first product to be launched when I started to officially work for AirDesign. I had so much fun watching the #haveyouseenit teasers shot all over the world by Nicolas Cochet’s family, friends and team pilots. That was also the opportunity to meet the movie maker Jake Holland! I wanted the introduction scene as in 2001: A Space Odyssey but it was a bit too complicated ^^ As for the website, the final twist of the story is a tribute to « Planet of the Apes » from Pierre Boule. The names of the aliens, Alf and Gordon are a nod to ALF (Alien Life Form) the famous TV show.

The Volt 4 was a total banger being the first ever EN-C two-liner on the market. And it was my first 2-liner too ^^ In the story, the main character is inspired by Ray Kroc as I discovered in the movie, The Founder, he was once a salesman who travels across the United States selling Multimixer blenders to restaurants. I named him Archie after Archie Ferguson the hero from 4 3 2 1 from Paul Auster while the name of the agency, Stellar Cooper Advertising, is from Mad Men series. Watching Stephan and Martin in a Home Shopping Show as the introduction scene of our movie was priceless.

The name LiVi (for light Vivo) sounded like Ivy to me, and thus like Poison Ivy. I got inspired by comics and imagined this journalist Lois Lane writing while listening to « I’m the bad guy » from Billie Eilish.

Flying around the Himalayas with a piece of cloth and friends, spending nights in a unknown place and flying again...the line between reality and magic is as blurry as it gets...just the cold makes it very real 😜
