Race #9 of 2026: The Erie Marathon at Presque Isle

This one’s been a loooooong time coming. I started training back in May with an app called @runna and after 50 workouts logged, 90 hours of training, and 457 miles, I’m DANG proud to say I have a new PR in the marathon: 4:14:12! 🌟

The day was not without challenges: the first 19 miles were going perfectly to plan, each mile a little faster, and I truly thought I might be within striking distance of breaking 4 hours (my moonshot goal). But, boy oh boy did the humidity kick in during the dreaded, maligned, red-headed stepchild Mile 20. Walk/running saved my butt, and I had to balance against the desire to push with the desire to pass out. You can literally see me in the video clip pause to take a breath meters from the finish line.

But, I got to see @angelamarieharmelinkhowell at water stop 2, the entire @nicolelossie clan, and had @bsmued waiting to pick me up at the finish line (literally). We had a tasty celebratory brunch afterwards at @pier6rooftop with the best friends a gal could ask for.

And now? Oh, the sweet embrace of a few weeks off. 💜 Then, I’ll do a few fun races before starting up a condensed cycle to get ready for the @waltdisneyworld marathon with Team @mageewomens in January.

PS: I can’t say enough about how much I’ve loved using the Runna app. And after the race, it made me a retrospective video that detailed where I’ve come from and how much progress I made. Not gonna lie, but it made me a little emotional to know I’ve been working towards this since May. You can lose sight of the work you put in when you struggle in training or search for motivation. I’m happy the developers included this today at just the right moment. I love this app and the customization it affords for your goals and lifestyle! ❤️

Opening night was just amazing! James Wallace made me cry even before he gave me the Erie Playhouse necklace. I just feel honored to be a part of this wonderful show about acceptance and making your little corner of the world a little kinder, a little more loving. This is your warning that I’m gonna be going on and on about this show and I will not apologize! Come and see us- I promise you’ll be smiling!
