A peek into our homeschool day 🫶🏼 We do our book work M/Tu/Th/F with co-op & Spanish class on Wednesday. We also rotate so we have history/geography on M/Tu and science + art on Th/F (unless we feel like mixing things up 😆). Not pictured: Independent reading and a long bike ride to enjoy the beautiful weather ☀️ ☁️ 🍁

A little homeschool DITL - on a Monday! We are on fall break from co-op this week, which means we get to do a FULL week of school at home! *happy dance* 🤗 I added a chill little bat unit for the week for some fun Halloween vibes 🦇🎃 #itsfrickinbats We try to get as much schoolwork done as possible before karate because NONE of us want to do school afterward 1 including me lol. But math is a MUST, so that still had to happen later! After karate, I took all three boys with me to vote! 🫡 This is the second time I take them with me to vote, it always brings up good conversation and they love getting their “Future Voter” sticker. 🇺🇸 Mom tip: Early voting is the best way to do it with kids. Shorter wait times! We were in and out in 12 minutes! Happy homeschooling, familia! 💜✨ #homeschool #homeschoolditl #workinghomeschoolmom #momditl

Everyone is excited for math because of the bucket scale! We had to skip the weight chapter until our scale and weights came in, and now they won’t give the bucket scale a break, even after math is done. 😆⚖️📚

🎉 We’re celebrating today over here because we’re halfway through Saxon Algebra 1! 🎉 Today Jam completed the 60th lesson and he was so happy to know he was halfway done with this curriculum. He worked hard this summer to try to get as far as he could because he knew once he started all his subjects it would be hard to dedicate as much time to math. His hard work paid off! He’s hoping to be done with algebra 1 by the end of December so he can move onto Saxon algebra 2. We really couldn’t have done this without using @nicolethemathlady ! Her videos have been his teacher and guide through these 60 lessons. Yes, he still reads the textbook, sometimes, but really these videos have been the best teacher for him. The combination of Nicole’s videos and the repetitiveness of Saxon has been the winning combination for Jam. I’m hoping math continues this smoothly for him. I will post a video soon, on YouTube, sharing our thoughts on Saxon and Nicole the Math Lady now that we’ve done prealgebra and half of algebra 1. 🎉What are the tools/curriculum for math in your homeschool that have been a win for you all?

Hello September! Were starting the month sharing our 9th grade lineup. While we started some of our schooling in July here’s a look at what we have planned. Curriculum: * Saxon Algebra 1 alongside Nicole the Math Lady * Oak Meadow World History: Communities and Connections * Beyond the Page High School Language Arts * Oak Meadow Integrated Drawing * PE * Oak Meadow World Geography (if we have time in our schedule) Outside the home: * Biology (taken at homeschool center) * Spanish 1 (taken at homeschool center) * Baking/Cooking (taken at homeschool center/reinforced at home) * Film Study (taken at homeschool center) Also, we will have lots of reading, Fix-It Grammar, and time in nature. These are the plans and what we’ve settled on. Hopefully this is what we stick to. It’s already been a lot and we haven’t started science and Spanish yet. We’ve got a rigorous lineup but also full of fun, amazing books, and interesting things to learn. ** What do you guys have lined up for your year? ✏️

A little 👀 into our homeschool day 📚✨ Not gonna lie, we were all dragging our feet today. But we got lots done and squeezed in some karate practice with a friend before tonight’s belt test! 🥋 This was day two in the first lesson of All About Reading with my first grader and we still haven’t finished it 😅 It is a lot of review but we skipped half of level 2 and all of level 3 so we are both becoming familiar with some of the labels and whatnot. With that being said, he is knocking it out of the park! The big kids read 10 chapters of Holes this week! They’re loving it and look forward to watching the movie when they finish! 🍿 Links 🔗: I have All About Reading, Nicole the Math Lady and The Waldock Way all linked in my bio :) Happy Friday, familia! #homeschool #homeschoolditl #homeschoolmom #homeschoolers #howtohomeschool

🧮 The Cotter Abacus is more than "just" a counting tool! It's a hands-on way for students to subitize numbers, understand addition and subtraction strategies, learn place value, and much more. We even teach decimals and fractions using this amazing manipulative! Thanks @nicolethemathlady for the shoutout! #LearnMath #HomeschoolMath #Homeschool

Day 1 was all about becoming familiar with their new curriculum - flipping through it and smelling the crisp new curriculum pages 😆 Day 2 we dove right in! So far, I am super happy with my new choices for the school year. They seem to be exactly what every student needs! I can tell it’s going to take me a couple weeks to figure out our routine. I like for our homeschool days to have a flow, not a strict timed routine. But trying to piece together who does what while I rotate between different students always takes me a minute. As I become more familiar with the curriculum lessons (how long they take, how much they require out of me) I’ll be adjusting. I’m excited to see all the growth and accomplishments this school year! Have you started your new homeschool year yet?
