6 years ago, I sent an email that I never thought I’d be looking back on like this.

September 30, 2020. I reached out to professional wakeboarder Nic Rapa when I was in high school. He was someone I looked up to, and I told him about my passion for wakeboarding and my dream of someday owning a wake boat.

I remember looking at wakeboats and thinking how incredible it would be to own something like that. But deep down, I genuinely never believed I’d be able to afford one. It always felt like one of those dreams that would stay just a dream.

Nic actually took the time to respond to my email. He encouraged me to keep grinding and reminded me that anything was possible. I don’t think he realized how much those words would stick with me. Around that same time, I found out that professional wakeboarder Mike Dowdy was actually connected to my family through marriage. That connection led to an opportunity to spend a week training with him at his home. For a kid who loved wakeboarding as much as I did, both experiences meant the world to me then, and they still do today.

Fast forward six years, at 23 years old, I was able to buy my very own wakeboat.
But the crazy part is, that’s not even the greatest thing that happened in this chapter of my life.

Within that same year, I married my best friend, Lily, and we bought our first home together. Things I used to think were so far away somehow became our reality.

It’s a bittersweet feeling that’s hard to explain. Growing up, you spend so much time wishing you were older, dreaming about what life might look like someday.

Then suddenly you’re standing in the middle of everything you once wished for, wondering where all that time went. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come, but more than anything, I’m thankful for the life Lily and I are building together. None of these accomplishments would mean nearly as much without someone in your corner walking with you reaching our goals together.

Forever grateful for everyone who believed in me, inspired me, and helped me get to where I am today. ❤️

@nicrapa was the easy choice for “most competitive rider in the PWT,” which also equates to him being the most locked in. Simply put, when it’s time to ride and winning or going home is on the line, nobody is more dialed than Nic. How does he feel about that label? He loves it. And we love that about Nic. In some ways, it’s easy to see how he’s become a 5x overall PWT champ: countless hours of training and an uncanny ability to lock in. 🔒💪

World champion!!!

I’m incredibly proud to see everything come together. All of the work paying off in the biggest moment, landing my run exactly how I wanted. There’s no better feeling than that❤️‍🔥

One of only two riders to ever win a world title on both boat and cable, honored to be a part of that list.

Wakeboarding has taken us so many places, introduced us to some of our best friends, given us so many mental and physical challenges to work through… the lows are really low, but the highs are even higher.

We haven’t done traditional team sports… action/extreme sports can get really lonely. A week at Callaway Gardens with the whole gang was an awesome reminder of how much community matters. Walking away with a podium finish was just the cherry on top. Huge shout out to every person who has helped make our last six summer so freaking rad, especially the one who took this photo - @_kmproductions_40
