🚨🇳🇬🏀 NBBF ELECTION CRISIS! STAKEHOLDERS PETITION TINUBU OVER ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES

Concern is growing over the 2026–2030 Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) elections as three presidential aspirants and other stakeholders call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene.

In a petition dated October 12, 2026, the candidates alleged irregularities in the electoral process and called for an investigation before voting takes place.

🏀 THE THREE PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS

🔹 Igoche Mark — North Central representative
🔹 Olumide Oyedeji — South West representative
🔹 Ejike Ugboaja — South East representative

⚠️ WHAT ARE THEY ALLEGING?

The petitioners claim that more than 15 state basketball association chairmen and representatives were removed and replaced shortly before the elections.

They listed Zamfara, Kaduna, Gombe, Benue, Kwara, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Niger, Edo and Taraba among the affected states.

They allege that these changes could influence the voting process and undermine fairness.

🏛️ QUESTIONS OVER CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY

The petitioners also raised concerns about Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, questioning whether his public office is compatible with leading the federation.

📢 THEIR DEMAND

They want President Tinubu to direct the National Sports Commission (NSC) to halt the election process and investigate the allegations.

Important: These remain allegations made by the petitioners and have not been established as findings.

🏀🇳🇬 Should the NBBF elections be suspended until these concerns are investigated, or should the process continue?
