Some songs just always circle back and will forever be timeless. And Master Blaster is that song for me. 🥹

I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to fully describe what this performance felt like. I literally created this piece in THREE DAYS. Three days. And my cast had three days to learn it while also being in other people’s pieces, rehearsals, and everything else happening around them. And somehow… it was still so magical. So beautiful. So full of life.

This piece also allowed me to reconnect with people I genuinely never thought I’d cross paths with creatively again. And for that alone, I’m extremely grateful.

I’m grateful that God continues to make room for my gift. He continues to allow me and the people around me to find space, reconnect, meet new people, and remember that we all share this same gift. Dance has a way of bringing us back into our bodies, back to each other, and back to the joy of simply MOVING.

I feel like this piece is such a beautiful close to a year of being overly creative, trusting myself again, and remembering just how capable I am as a choreographer. I’m proud to create work that brings ME joy, but also brings joy to the people dancing it and the people watching it.

And I truly could not have done this without my cast. You guys were simply AMAZING. Even with every little hardship, schedule conflict, and everything that came up, y’all did your BIG ONE. 😂❤️ Thank you for trusting me, showing up, and giving this piece everything you had.

And thank you to @grindhousedance901 , @subroymovement_dot_org , and @terrannoir for continuing to create spaces where my creative gifts can be showcased in my city. Thank you for giving me opportunities to pour back into the dancers around me and create art that we can all carry with us.

Master Blaster just brings me so much joy.

And I’m just… grateful. 🤎

Day 3 of the @summerleaguefilmfestival was surreal! Hoop Street screened at the same time as our Grizzlies were playing on the court. So, basically, Memphis was felt throughout the Thomas & Mack Center. Plus, the Sorors were in the building! We call that a God wink! On behalf of the Hoop Street cast and crew, we want to thank @hiddenempirefilmgroup for such an amazing experience! @deontaylor and @roxanneavent!!! Thank you! @unapologetically_christine and @gordonkreed ! Thank you!! We also have to give a shout out to @james_posey41 and his @whatspopnsnacks ! They fed us all weekend!! Check them out! It’s a blessing to be able to use this platform to minister, encourage and inspire all while spending time with family. This was definitely a family affair! Last, I want to thank the Hoop Street executive producers, associate producer and director @producegravity @jordandanelz @markthomwill @princeton_james @meleishaedwards and our post production crew @cuttingboard.tv &@vampireeditor . We definitely can’t forget @mml_jason and @jfishervisuals .I can’t tell you how many people asked us about our cinematographer and colorist!! Next stop @jxnfilmfestival in Jackson, Mississippi. Still can’t believe this! Heading to Vegas for the @summerleaguefilmfestival in a few days to represent! Memphis…stand up! 1.Our Executive Director and Screenwriter @teresadickerson1908 is a huge @kgcertified Kevin Garnett fan! IYKYK! Adding this because KG is part of the Summer League Film Festival Programming Team. 2.Hoop Street is only one of two narrative feature films selected. Blessed! 3. Proud to go on this journey with @princeton_james , @producegravity and @cuttingboard.tv . 4. We have the best cast and crew in the world! Let’s go!!

Princess had her opening weekend of her very first full musical (not Jr.) #Tarzan 😍😍😍

I am beyond proud of her! Watching her professionalism at just 11 years old, her growth as a performer, her beautiful voice, her dancing, and her acting has truly been amazing. 🥹 #MyBaby

I also want to send a huge thank you to the incredible cast and crew of Tarzan. As a parent, there is nothing more comforting than knowing your child is in a loving, safe, and supportive environment especially when there are very few children. I never felt uneasy dropping her off for rehearsals or like I needed to stay because she was surrounded by people who cared.

From the production team, who were already like family, to the talented young adults in the cast who looked after, encouraged, and loved on the littles in the show — thank you. You all have made this experience so special, and we appreciate you more than you know. ❤️

Thank you to my theatre family and her Godmom who showed up for her opening night when we couldn’t be there!!! And all her previous directors were there Saturday 🥹
