The Night Worms package was hauntingly good this month 😱

Included in this months package was one of my favorite reads of the YEAR - Rooted by @leopoldoleopoldo - and it's a HARDCOVER 🥲 If you haven't read it yet, let this be a sign. It's the perfect spooky season read that's beautifully written. I'm really digging the "doodle plate" in lieu of the signed book plate as well.

As always @night_worms delivering a delightfully curated horror package.

What a perfect way to close out Hispanic Heritage Month with a Nightworms subscription celebrating Latinx authors! Leopoldo and Cynthia are two of my absolute favorites, so I was thrilled to receive their books this month.

Y aún más en estos momentos que generan temor y ansiedad en nuestra comunidad, recordemos: no pudieron antes y no podrán ahora.

¡Que vivan los latinos, aquí y en todo el mundo!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! 🎃 I just got my October box from @night_worms 🪱. This box features two of my most anticipated reads this year! 📚

If you know me, you know that, I never shut up about the book piñata by @leopoldoleopoldo so I was ecstatic to find out that he was blessing us with another book! Rooted is described as a “blood reckoning”, blending horror, and Aztec mythology.

Something followed us. Home is a horror anthology, featuring some of my favorite, Latine horror, authors, with themes of body, horror, colonization, trauma, religion, and so much more👹

And of course, the amazing goodies always featured by real artist and small businesses. I’ve tagged them all, so please check them out and show them some Love.

Thank you @night_worms for another amazing month and another amazing box. I am so excited for this one! ✨🫶🏽

…

Another month, another delectable horror-filled delivery. (Swipe for content reveal)

October’s Theme is Sacred Spaces, which feels kind of perfect for the festive mood lighting I have all around the house for Halloween. It’s both cozy and creepy at times depending on what’s creaking along the floorboards or causing a draft. All while the leaves change, rain falls every other day, and the fog rolls in again and again.

What’s in the Box? 📦

📚 Something Followed Us Home
• a Latine horror collection with stories from Agustina Bazterrica, Isabel Cañas, Mariana Enriquez, Xochitl Gonzalez and more

📚 Rooted by Leopoldo Goût
• Author of Piñata, Leopoldo Goût’s latest horror novel Rooted is a “a blood reckoning” (Marlon James) where one woman’s return to Mexico City digs away the layers of her forgotten past and the Aztec gods she awakened. [Source: Macmillan] / Leopoldo is also a contributing author for Something Followed Us Home

I was hooked the second I saw the cover for Something Followed Us Home, but to see so many authors’ names I recognize but haven’t yet read has me excited to jump in.

I’m also intrigued by Rooted and hope it’ll encourage me to read Piñata, which I’ve seen a few people recommend.

Goodies 🍬
• stickers, always cute and on theme and a fun addition
• a signed book plate for Rooted
• Chai of the Moth from Haints and Hollers Apothocary, which I can’t wait to try! I love the Mothman theme for this particular blend, but North Carolina itself (where the shop is based) has a special place in my household because my wife lived there for 10 years and I’m working on a story that’s set in a fictional town there. We’ve both wanted to order from them but haven’t been able to yet, so it was a nice surprise to see it in this month’s package.
…

May the rest of your October be as packed full of spooky fun and gifties such as these. 🖤🧡
