✨ Last night I had the most incredible farm-to-table dinner at Farrand Hall in Colon, MI. They invited me out and it felt like stepping into a summer evening dream — cocktails in hand, chickens and ducks wandering by, and the chefs ringing a triangle to call us in for dinner.

We sat at one long table and shared course after course: tomato water with sage, salted melon, huitlacoche buckwheat balls, smoky eggplant, wild boar that cooked for 6 hours, focaccia straight from their bakery, and the sweetest smoked peach for dessert. Oh — and they sent us home with cookies. 🥹🍪

10/10 experience. I can’t wait to go back.

A friend joined me today at Long Island Cafe to check out their new menu!
This was my first time and I was delighted to see such a wide range of options for both breakfast and lunch, as well as a some really fun mimosa and other drink options.
I went with the classic Eggs Benny. It was great! The hollandaise was delish and I was able to choose from several different potatoes for the side. I went with hash brown which were yummy. Their serving sizes were pretty large and I was able to take half of it home.
My friend ordered the Turkey Bacon Melt and loved it. She was impressed that the turkey was thick not deli sliced turkey. She also commented that the sourdough was buttery and delicious. We also got a kick out of the fries. They were a unique shape but tasted really good! She also was able to take about half of her meal home.
We skipped on mimosas this time and stuck with coffee but I would absolutely go back to try one!
Their new menu had a lot of fun and creative dishes and I hope to go try more. 😊 Thanks, Long Island for the yummy meal!
