Also, catch me the upcoming VIRTUAL Artist Talk

The conversation continues.

I’m joining six fellow exhibiting artists for the What We Carry Virtual Artist Talk this Thursday, October 22, from 7–8:30 PM ET.

We’ll share a little about our creative practices, the work we brought into What We Carry, what lives beneath what you may first see, and how art can help us give language to some of what we carry.

Presented by What’s Your Elephant™ and curated by Niki Lopez.

Free + virtual. Registration required to receive the viewing link. Link also in bio.

A little Sunday breakfast situation. 😋

Arugula, boiled eggs, sardines, sauerkraut, capers, feta, chili flakes, seasonings, and a drizzle of olive oil.

A little bit of everything I was craving this morning. And yes, I love sardines! 😂

How are y’all doing after that weekend?

Because Heat Wave 2026 was a whole production.

A major salute to Damon @daymeon___ and Brandon @takarishyne305 , the main organizers behind the weekend, for pulling together the moving pieces, people, partnerships, and events that made South Florida Black Pride happen.

And a special shoutout to @nikilopez19 , whose impact on the Shades of Black Film Showcase helped make that experience thoughtful, creative, and memorable.

The crowd saw the finished product. These are some of the people who helped build it. In addition to our amazing sponsors!

Heat Wave 2026 is officially in the books.

Last Friday night, Shades of Black brought film, art, conversation and community together at the Victory Black Box Theatre.

From seven Black LGBTQ+ films and featured visual art to a full house and a thoughtful post-film community conversation, the evening reflected what Shades of Black is about: creating space for our stories to be centered, shared and experienced together.

Thank you to the filmmakers, artists, panelists, partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and everyone who showed up and helped make the third annual Shades of Black Film Showcase such a meaningful night.

Presented by South Florida Black Pride + Black Alphabet and produced/coordinated by Niki Lopez Creative for Afro Pride Federation.

Then I have a virtual artists talk for my nonprofit, @whatsyourelephant What’s Your Elephant - exhibition What We Carry. That will be Oct 22 at 7:30. All the art was around the things we carry - pain, hurt, trauma, healing, hope.

The Nov 1, I will have a ticketed Mindful Mask Workshop & small reception for some of my art this is on display at an acupuncture & wellness center Longville Wellness @longvillewellness .
(Stay tuned for RSVP & tickets for the last two)

Had to pull out a little Mighty Sparrow. 🎶

Been digging through his music since yesterday and have Sparrow playing all day today.

The Calypso King of the World. The wit, the storytelling, the music.

Rest well, Sparrow. 🕊️

And this song still makes me smile. 😊

Time to make some art… or in this case, let some of it live somewhere new. 🎨

A few works from across many years of my practice are currently on view at Longville Wellness as Return to Self.

I love that my friend and acupuncturist has decided to bring two things she loves together: art and wellness, inviting artists to share their work in her healing space each quarter. And I’m grateful to be one of them.

Return to Self feels especially at home here. The works move through ancestry, identity, spirituality, the body, healing, protection and transformation. Different moments in my practice, in conversation with each other now.

Longville Wellness is a Black-owned, woman-owned and LGBTQ-owned wellness practice here in Fort Lauderdale.

And this audio made me smile, so I had to use it.

It is humbling to get feedback and gratitude for doing the creative work that I do touching on the issues we see. I had mothers, doctors, specialists and people from grassroot movements supporting maternity health saying thank you for blending information with art. I thank @nikilopez19 @nikilopezcreative_ for allowing me to join the cohort of brilliant artists presenting their work, the photos and for the opportunity to be part of the art panel and share the thoughts behind my work. Thank you to @breastfeedmiami for creating spaces like this to have conversations and do the work to support mothers in breastfeeding.

I want to thank my sistren @nikilopez19 of @nikilopezcreative_ for seeing me and presenting opportunities for my work to be seen.

This piece is called
MILK TIME

Having breast fed all 4 of my now grown children

Breast feeding was all about Milk Time.

Drip drop...leak. peek..tingles that linger

The entire ambiance would shift

The sweet nectar and my breast sap nurtured and sustained my children the first years of their life.

It is such a beautiful and sacred gesture to breast feed. It is a differnt kinda love that is cosmic, sacred and spiritually connected to the creator and my ancestors.

What an honor to breastfeed
