Here is a picture of myself and #mylespollard last year at our McLeod’s Daughters Bush Christmas Reunion in the rural community of Lismore at the Lismore City Hall.
We came to be there because we were both fortunate enough to be involved in the most successful television show Australia has produced, care of Millennium Television and Channel Nine. This show did and still does reach out to millions of viewers in Australia and around the world. Through story-telling, performance and the arts we reach into people’s hearts and minds and lives and CONNECT as humans. Story-telling is ancient, forever a part of global culture and survival, and now more than ever we need to connect.
So to all our politicians in Australia, particularly the ones in government right NOW, please do not remove funding and support from the life-line of not only the Australian people, but our millions of friends around the globe.
Without the arts, our stories, our human experiences shared by performers such as myself, we are alone, more isolated, removed and in grave danger of losing ourselves and our human interaction, our identity and sense of belonging. This is bigger than mental health - it is spirit health, soul health, human health.
Politicians: DO NOT TURN YOUR BACKS ON US, because we are not turning ours. We stand ready, to create, to write, to perform, to sing, to dance, to tell, to cry, to laugh, to reach out.
WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Please share this!
