A curated glimpse into the most memorable moments of the 2026 TPF Conference.

A chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues, forge new relationships, and engage with a community united by a serious commitment to painterly practice.

The programme featured a compelling series of talks by Dr Nikki Frater, Marta Sledz, Ryan John Wilson, Alan Dodd, Ruth Bothwell, Paul Humphries, and Doree Carrier. Complementing these were outstanding exhibitions by Rose of Jericho, Richard McPherson, and Croxford & Saunders.

Another wonderful gathering at the TPF
Annual Conference 2026 - “The Bigger
Picture.”
A big thank you to all our speakers, exhibitors, committee members, and the ISH venue for helping to make this such an excellent and memorable day.
The talks and exhibitions were fascinating, covering a broad spectrum of painterly pursuits-from insights into mural painting, wood graining, and marbling, to historic paint conservation, materials and their application, traditional tools and references, and contemporary finishing techniques. It was also encouraging to see emphasis on apprenticeships and training.
The past, the present, and the future

Fun opening of @rkm_muir fabulous new Cecil Beaton show @nationalportraitgallery tonight. Lovely to see old friends in the flesh and on the walls including Sir John Smiley aged 91 and 5. Special evening with special people. Dipping back into my old life.

Our visit to Salisbury earlier this month began with a private tour of the magnificent mediaeval cathedral, followed by an exclusive private view of the Salisbury Museum's 'Rex Whistler: the Artist and His Patrons'.

We enjoyed a private talk from the exhibition's curator, Nikki Frater, whose passion and expertise gave a fascinating insight into the life of this renowned British artist.

Thank you to @SalisburyCathedral, @SalisburyMuseum and @Nikki.Frater for a wonderful evening.

The Palladian Bridge at Wilton in Wiltshire. Painted by many artists, but none more so than Rex Whistler who was enchanted with it at first glance. Whistler was killed in action in 1944 and is celebrated 80 years on in an excellent exhibition at The Salisbury Museum.
