It’s the BEST DAY EVER!! Nikki was born on this day, just a few years ago!

It’s easy to celebrate our favorite person! The best wife, mom, aunt, sister, daughter, friend that we all love!

Help me out and wish this incredible human the very best birthday ever!!

Well, we did it. We loaded up the car, drove 1,500 miles to Ohio, unpacked what felt like an entire house into a dorm room with her amazing roommate and her family, hugged Lily goodbye, and flew back home. And there may have been a few tears along the way (but they definitely were not mine! 😜)

And just like that, she’s a college kid.

Coming home feels different.

The house is already a little slower, one less concert happening in the front bathroom and one less messy room.

And yet, we’re excited.

For as long as we can remember, Lily has dreamed big. She dreamed of performing, of finding a place where she could challenge herself and pursue what she loves. This week, she took a giant step toward that dream at @baldwinwallace . One of the most well respected musical theatre programs in the nation!

We’re incredibly proud of the talent, the awards, the performances, and the accomplishments. But we’re more proud of the work ethic, perseverance, courage, and passion that got her there.

It’s kind of crazy as a parent. You spend years teaching your kids to be independent and then one day they actually do it.

The house is a little quieter now. There is definitely a Lily-sized hole around here.

Go chase those dreams, baby girl. We are beyond proud and ecstatic to see where this next chapter takes you.

Also, peep the pictures from our last family dinner where Lily had one last sombrero serenade before leaving Texas! Also, we saw the house from A Christmas Story while in Cleveland, leg lamp and all!!

Watching my team take an idea and surpass all expectations is the best part of my job. There is always something happening at the club and this week (and next) we are getting to show it off!

Some of my favorite things!

For the first and maybe only time that all 5 of us have been able to be a part of a show together!
Sammy & Lily on stage, Nikki and Anna working backstage and I’m directing!

These photos were taken after a long dress rehearsal and we had to keep the oldest and youngest separated because, well, siblings. 😐😂

I hope you’ll take time over this weekend and next to come catch this special show! A true community effort as so many have pitched in to make it happen! I can’t wait for you to come see the hills come to life with THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!

Shameless plug for my buddy, Joey Mathews, and the new coffee company, @latterrainscoffee !! This stuff is delicious, paying farmers a fair and living wage and making an impact! Check them out, order some of their coffee and tell me about how awesome it is!!

Sammy and I had a fun boys trip to Beaumont for the week, got over to an Astros game and played some Bingo and 4th of July excitement with Granny! Mom is doing well, she’s back home at Brenda’s and on the mend!

This young entrepreneur is back at it today! He has some big goals (a new baseball bat for this upcoming season and a trip to NYC) that he is raising money for! Sam is a hard worker who enjoys putting the work in to achieve the goals he sets for himself! Come out to Custer Ave in Odessa (off of 17th street) and look for the big black Academy tent! He’s got some good tasting drinks to cool you off on this Juneteenth!

#SeniorSunday

Welp, this is it. The final Senior Sunday post. (Thanks for indulging me these past 9/10ish months!)

She walks the stage this Thursday and takes the next step into her future!

Words can’t adequately describe the pride, joy and excitement I have for this little girl!

Your mom and I love you Lily Paige! Go chase those dreams! Never shrink, never back down, we believe in you every single day!

Big things are ahead little one and we will be there cheering you on every single step of the way!

Oh! The places you will go!

#SeniorSunday feels a little extra emotional this week.

On Friday we celebrated Fine Arts Signing Day at Permian as Lily officially committed to Baldwin Wallace University to pursue her BM in Musical Theatre.

What a journey this has been.

For the last year, our lives have basically consisted of prescreens, audition cuts, dance calls, applications, portals, spreadsheets, live auditions, unifieds, “did you hit submit?”, and enough self-tapes to qualify us for our own streaming platform.

And through all of it, Lily worked harder than we could have ever imagined.

This process is not for the faint of heart. The Musical Theatre college audition world is intense, competitive, emotional, expensive, exhausting… and somehow also magical. Lily earned acceptances from multiple incredible top-tier programs across the country, and we could not be more proud of the way she handled every single moment with grace, grit, humor, and heart.

But from the very beginning, there was just something special about Baldwin Wallace.

One of the top Musical Theatre programs in the nation. A place filled with extraordinary talent, incredible training, and people who already feel like family. In the end, BW wasn’t just the “best” choice on paper, it was HER choice. The right fit. The place where she can grow, thrive, and become exactly the artist and human she’s meant to be.

And apparently… it’s only a casual 22 HOURS from home.

So yes, we’re emotional.
Yes, we’re incredibly proud.
Yes, I’ve already started calculating how many road trip playlists it takes to get to Ohio.

Watching Lily chase this dream has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives. She has worked for every single moment of this, and today we celebrate all of it.

Permian Theatre kid forever.
Future Yellow Jacket. 💛🖤

Ohio has no idea what’s coming.

I am so excited to announce my commitment to Baldwin Wallace for my BM in musical theatre! After an incredibly long year of auditioning I am ecstatic to have found my home at BW!

I have so many people to thank for helping me through this journey first of course is @musicaltheatercollegeauditions
and @leoashevens without these people I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the success I had this year! I also want to thank my incredible coaches @smassellsings, @kmaccluggage, and @sarajgallo you have all guided and helped me in a way you could never imagine. Specifically @smassellsings who quickly became a huge inspiration and mentor to me. I’ll always be grateful for her encouragement and realness throughout this process! ;)

Thank you to @bwmusictheatre and all of the incredible faculty who were willing to take a chance on a girl from west Texas!

I also have to thank my mom and dad who I wouldn’t have been in theatre without. Thank you for always believing in me and for allowing me to follow my dreams! I love you both tons and am forever grateful to have you as parents!

And finally GO YELLOWJACKETS! 🐝
