TUESDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• ELECTION DAY: Voters head to the polls in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vermont, Connecticut and Alabama, with a special GOP primary for the Senate in South Carolina.

• Search and rescue efforts were underway early Tuesday in dozens of cities and towns in western Colombia after a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the region, killing at least 111 people and leaving many trapped under the debris of damaged and destroyed buildings.

Around 1,600 buildings were reported damaged or collapsed. Families posted information about missing loved ones on citizen-run websites, and over 3,000 people were still missing on Tuesday.

• Former Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall on Monday said he’ll sue to force the Trump administration to restore his security clearance, which it revoked Friday after claiming he had disclosed sensitive information about the Qatari-gifted jet now serving as Air Force One.

Kendall, a West Point graduate who served as President Joe Biden’s head of the Air Force, said on CNN Monday that he’ll sue the administration, noting it has a history of retaliating against critics by stripping their clearances. “As my mother taught me years ago, you stand up to bullies,” said Kendall, who has denied disclosing classified information.

• The Trump administration on Monday announced it has revoked more than 175,000 visas from foreign nationals, claiming violations of the terms of the documents related to criminal activity and calls for violence against U.S. citizens, among other allegations.

The State Department said the majority of the canceled visas were the result of “law enforcement encounters,” which has raised concern among some immigration lawyers that the Trump administration is revoking visas for minor encounters or for charges that did not go through the judicial process.

THURSDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• Trump hailed the U.S. military’s “unstoppable” prowess in the war with Iran, telling Americans in a prime-time address Wednesday night that the conflict, now entering its second month, will end “shortly” without offering a definite timeline.

“We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks,” he said. “We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.”

• Stock futures dropped sharply and oil prices surged higher Thursday morning, after President Donald Trump’s address to the nation about the Iran war failed to reassure markets that the fighting would be over soon.

• More than 30 countries planned to join a virtual meeting on how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S., which relies on the strait for only a small percentage of its energy imports, is not attending.

• House and Senate Republican leaders jointly announced a plan Wednesday that they said would end the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security that caused major airport delays.

It would fund all of DHS except ICE and Customs and Border Protection, which Democrats won’t agree to fund without reforms to immigration enforcement operations. Those two agencies already have separate funding.

• An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 in Northern California awakened residents with a jolt early Thursday, with many saying they felt their homes shake for a few seconds in a 100-mile (161-kilometer) stretch, including San Francisco.

The earthquake was centered a mile (1.6 kilometers) from Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. It happened at about 1:40 a.m.

FRIDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• A federal judge said the government overreached by issuing a declaration that called treatments like puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgeries unsafe and ineffective for young people experiencing gender dysphoria, according to a ruling Thursday in Oregon.

Judge Mustafa Kasubhai ruled that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. didn’t go through the proper administrative procedures in December when issuing the declaration, which warned doctors that they could be excluded from federal health programs like Medicare and Medicaid if they provide these treatments.

The ruling grants preliminary relief to health professionals who provide the treatments. The judge also denied the government’s motion to dismiss the case.

• Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime personal attorney testified to a House committee Thursday that he was unaware of the late financier’s sexual abuse of underage girls at the time it was happening, becoming the latest person connected to Epstein to take that stance.

Darren Indyke, who worked as Epstein’s attorney for roughly two decades, told the House Oversight Committee in his opening statement that he “had no knowledge whatsoever” of Epstein’s abuse and would have quit working for him if he had known he was trafficking women and underage girls.

• The Senate is expected to take more votes related to funding for the Department of Homeland Security today and tomorrow as urgency grows in the negotiations over its shutdown, which has dragged on for more than a month. The shutdown has required thousands of federal workers to go without pay and caused disruptions at airports.

• A federal commission consisting of Trump-appointed members approved a 24-carat commemorative gold coin depicting the president in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

• The White House released a new framework for national AI legislation today, focusing on protections for children and boosting America’s AI industry while calling for sharp limits on legal liability for AI developers and state laws that it says would slow down AI development.
