One year older. This year changed me for real…

The January protests. The war. The uncertainty. It made me realize something I never expected: despite all the trauma I carry from Iran, I love my country more than I ever knew.

For so long, Iran was a place of sweet & bitter memories. But this year I realized it’s the place where my heart will belong FOREVER ❤️

I don’t know when—or if—I’ll ever be able to see some of the people I love or the places that made me who I am. That thought hurts more than I can explain.

This year also reminded me again that the empire sees us all the same. They don’t care about any of us Iranian, Afghan, Palestinian, Lebanese, or anyone else in our region. We are different nations with the same struggle, the empire. The more they hate us the more I love the people in our region, West Asia. Our compassion shouldn’t depend on nationality, gender & religion.

My relationship broke with people whose values no longer aligned with mine & I’m at peace with it. 🤍
My love for my people and for Iran is part of who I am. Nothing and no one will ever change that. I don’t think I can ever welcome the people who danced & cheered for war on our homeland, in my life again. These people are my family.

Through grief, uncertainty, and everything in between, we stayed together. We shared the same pain. Iran is our soul. Our soul will never break with war or anything else. Iran will always live. No matter what.

I’m endlessly grateful to have you in my life. I wouldn’t want to go through any of this with anyone else. I’m so happy you all stood on the right side of the history.
