Sam,

It’s strange isn’t it? That I am now posting about your wedding on the same app we met over a decade ago. That this wasn’t just an online friendship of two middle schoolers but a dream I got to see come to life in real time.

Fate is such a funny thing when it wants to be.

One silly word repeated three times in the comment section of someone we don’t even speak to anymore lead to an unconditional friendship across state lines that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

It goes without saying that nothing is the same as it was. We’ve both grown, we are no longer kids. We are living the days we would talk about having on the phone while we would wait for the bus to come. Time was slow back then I thought.

Remember when I put lipstick all over my face before school? Or when we would stay up all night on Skype? Grace wasn’t even a year old yet and lily was attached to your hip. You’d tell me about your friends and church and the extra curriculares you’d do. One of those people even became best man at your wedding.

Then we made it to high school and life got a bit more stressful than just the middle school angst.

Time Flashed forward to 2017 without warning.

You are telling me about sports and musicals, and you would play the ukelele that now hangs on a wall proudly in the room you share with the love of your life.

Time is starting to be a thief.

We graduate, we find a place to fit into the world. it’s now 2020 and Covid has hit. Somehow I’ve found myself on a trip to Missouri and I see my road leads through Oklahoma. And all I can think about is finally meeting you With what little time I have stowed away. Taking that time for a detour to see you.

I want See you standing in front of me and not just through a cracked galaxy tablet, or even a phone. I suddenly blink and I’ve crossed state lines, and I’m knocking on your door.

There you are, as if I just saw you in person a few days ago. Like we’ve always done this.

Like I’ve always been able to just take a short trip to see my friend.

Time notices and catches up again.

It’s 2023, Times getting greedy, Life is getting strange.
I’m about to be mother now, you’ve met a girl.

You spend all your time tal
