POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Ten years ago, I moved from Austria to San Francisco.

Looking through these photographs, it’s hard to believe how much life has happened in between.

There were incredible experiences, unexpected opportunities, new friendships, different jobs, and so many people who became part of my life.

But these photographs only show part of the story.

There were also really difficult years. Loneliness, uncertainty, frustration, and times when I questioned my decisions.

Living abroad is an incredible privilege, but it can also be exhausting. You’re constantly navigating a culture that isn’t your own, adapting to things others take for granted, and finding yourself outside your comfort zone in ordinary situations.

And yet, it’s precisely that experience that has changed how I see the world.

You begin to understand that the perspective you grew up with is only one of many. You learn to appreciate different ways of thinking and living. And you start seeing your own home, the place you came from, with new eyes.

These ten years have taken me through several professional chapters, from film and culture to the opportunity to pursue something I’d loved since childhood: interior architecture and design.

It’s a change I might never have been able to make had life not brought me here. And with it came a new community of people who inspire me, challenge me, and have become friends.

I’m grateful for everything these ten years have brought. Not because it was all wonderful or easy, but because of how much I’ve experienced, discovered, and learned to appreciate.

Ten years is a milestone worth celebrating. Not because I’ve arrived at some final destination. Far from it.

But because it’s worth looking back at how much life has happened along the way. And how many friendships and relationships have grown, how much fun I’ve had with my husband, family, and friends here, and how wonderful it is to stay close to my people back home despite the distance.

Here’s to whatever comes next. ❤️
