🎷 DARK SKY JAZZ WEEKEND at The CatStrand — 18–20 September

Big news first: due to circumstances beyond our control, Tao's show won't be going ahead — but I'm delighted that Mercury Prize-nominated pianist and CatStrand favourite Fergus McCreadie is stepping in with an intimate solo show on Saturday 19 September. His concerts are memorably quite the journey, and not to be missed.

The Full programme is now

Fri 18 Sept — Ali Watson Quartet
Ali Watson (double bass), Matt Carmichael (sax), Fergus McCreadie (piano) & Greg Irons (drums) bring lyrical melodies and sparse, meditative improvisation — modern jazz shaped by European jazz, Scottish folk and impressionist classical.

Sat 19 Sept — Fergus McCreadie (solo)
An intimate solo set from the Scottish Album of the Year winner and Mercury Prize nominee — jazz steeped in the landscapes of home.
Sun 20 Sept — High Notes From In The Sky

Richard Davies performs a rare solo soprano sax set — drifting, dreamlike, ambient jazz that feels like it's floating above the room.

Sun 20 Sept — Nimbus Sextet
"Quite extraordinary" — Jazz FM. One of UK jazz's most exciting new bands blends jazz, world and dance influences into something entirely their own.

See you there

‘You just gotta be Thankful’ I am after an extraordinary night performing at @pizzaexpresslive with @nimbus_sextet and such a beautiful group of talented musicians/singers. The reinventing of @massiveattackofficial music was refreshing.
Thank You @itisjoenichols for inviting me into this project. 🙏🏽

What a talent !!

Working between jazz, electronic, and traditional Scottish music. Main instruments: saxophone, keys, and production. Blends Scandinavian and Appalachian folk with free jazz. Takes inspiration from “Scandinavian and Norse roots” and Shetland tunes. 🙏 @normanwillmoremusic @nimbus_sextet @nuovi_fratelli_productions @luigi.pasquini.sound @djwaynedickson @tangential_music #jazzdaly #jazz #normanwillmore #nimbussextet #atouchofjazz

Massive Attack are trip-hop kings, but they’ve got serious jazz DNA running through a lot of their stuff. It’s in the basslines, horns, brushed drums, and mood. @massiveattackofficial @massiveattack.community @nimbus_sextet @itisjoenichols @nuovi_fratelli_productions @jack_0rourke @ant_thomaz #jazzdaly #massiveattack #jazz #nimbussextet #atouchofjazz
