Last week I got to chat to legendary artist @ninapelirroja for the Street Art Unearthed podcast.
.
She’s been at it for 20 years, way before the street art appreciation wave we see today. On the show she chats about how it is to be treated like a rockstar and the things she loves the most about getting to share her work on walls.
.
Link to the podcast episode can be found in my bio ✌️

Drogheda mural located on Meat Market lane, Irish mythology story of Étaín a beautiful woman who got cursed and transformed into a scarlet fly. This is the glowing insect you see in the middle of my painting, a ‘scarlet fly’ with a little twist. In the very end of the story, over a thousand years have passed and Étaín has transformed many times, she flies away with her lover and they are seen as two swans, says Nina Valkhoff muralist. #drawdaily #murals #muralsdaily #streetphotography #lovedrogheda #louthchat #phonephotography #mythology #irishfolklore #artoftheday

🎨 ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT 🎨

Artist No.19: Nina Valkhoff @ninapelirroja (The Netherlands)

We have familar face returning to Waterford Walls 🥳

Nina Valkhoff is an illustrator and muralist from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She has been working as a professional muralist for over 20 years with works in Sweden, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico, France and Ireland 🗺

Nina studied illustration at the Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam.

Making big mural paintings is her passion. She loves to cover her walls with plants and animals, especially with endangered species in order to make people aware of their existence, to show the beauty of these animals and to point out our selective love for the cute or more common animals 🐝🐘🌳

Besides making murals, she likes painting animals on vintage leather bags. In this way she re-purposes them by giving them a new soul and turning them into an unique piece of art ♻️
