POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Since October 7, 2023, my family of seven and I have lost almost everything — my parents, our home, my job, and the sense of safety we once had.

We have spent years struggling to survive in a tent, facing illness, polluted surroundings, a lack of clean water and nutritious food, and the constant fear of having nowhere to go.

I am suffering from jaw and back injuries, as well as burns from hot oil while cooking over an open fire. My daughter still needs care for severe burns she suffered when our home was bombed, and another daughter is struggling with kidney problems and needs ongoing treatment.

Today, our tent is worn out and falling apart, and winter is approaching. I am struggling to afford medical care, food, clean drinking water, and even the rent for the land where our tent stands.

I am not asking for a comfortable life. I am asking for a safe place for my family to survive the winter.

If you are able to help, or even share our story, it would mean more to us than words can express. Every act of kindness gives us a little more hope.

Thank you for not forgetting us. ❤️

Gaza is still under fire. Death fills its streets, crossings remain closed, prices are soaring, and winter is at the doorstep… Where are the children of Gaza supposed to go? Who will protect them from fire, hunger, and cold? 💔
Where is the Peace Council? Where are human rights? Where is our shared humanity in the face of this tragedy?
Imagine a child shivering inside a tent that cannot keep out the rain, a mother with no food for her children, and a father unable to provide even the most basic necessities for his family.
The people of Gaza are not numbers in the news. They are human beings who deserve to live with dignity and safety.
Open the crossings. Let food, medicine, and shelter supplies reach those in need. Give peace a meaning beyond words.
Gaza is not asking for the impossible… It is asking for the right to live. Will the world hear its cry before winter grows harsher?

Introducing Milpa Portraits, a series of video portraits made by our incredible team, celebrating the people and relationships that shape Metabolic Studio’s Milpa.

We begin with Romina. Her family is among the vendors who have collaborated with Metabolic Studio to help make this space happen. In this portrait, Romina walks us through the Milpa and shares the freedom and joy she feels here—and the pleasure of gathering with everyone who helps make it.

❤️ Dear friends, I urgently need your help.

I previously appealed for help to replace my kidney stent, which should have been replaced two months ago. Unfortunately, I still cannot afford the cost. My pain is getting worse every day, and doctors say the stent must be replaced urgently because deposits have built up on it.

Please, if you can, help me continue my treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. If you cannot donate, sharing my appeal could help me reach someone who can.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support. 🙏💔

Passionate about environment justice? Join us for the screening of Breath Work October 7th! 🎞️

Breathe Work is an experimental opera that explores breath as resistance. Part documentary, part performative ritual, created by 13 community members ages 11-65 from Long Beach. The film brings together personal stories of communities affected by environmental racism through the impacts of freeways, rail yards, oil refineries & shipping infrastructure.

A panel will be followed after the screening by community members from various communities impacted by environmental racism, including one of our very own youth from Boyle Heights 📍 * more info on the panel soon 🤩

⏳ I am running out of time.

I urgently need to replace my kidney stent. The delay is already causing me severe and worrying symptoms, and I cannot wait any longer.

I am asking for help because I cannot afford the treatment on my own.

💔 Please, if you can help, don’t wait. Even a small donation can make a difference and help me receive the care I urgently need.

🙏 Please share this message if you cannot donate. Your support may reach someone who can help.

sacred waters and arroyo willow worshippers! on the evening of the autumnal equinox we gather upon the banks of paayme paxaayt, our friend the la river, to sit with the sunset and inhabit the sonic worlds of @nicogeoris 🌊

nico is a dear & brilliant friend. his music lives deep within our hearts, and on the evening of the 22nd he’ll be channeling clouds, confluence, and waterways via wurlitzer, sampler, and synth to soundtrack this transition of seasons.

rsvp via our website for the pin drop, or if you’ve joined us on the la river in a previous flow of time then you know where the current leads.

this is a donation-based gathering, open to and for all. setting up on the river is a wild process & nico is joining us all the way from the high-desert scrubland home in the mojave, so please donate if you can and we’d love if a few friends would stay late to help us pack up.

pull up early to hang out, ride a bike, bird watch, read, visit the @lafbpark.diy, whatever fills your cup. bring a blanket, water, snacks, an extra layer, a pup, a friend, and anything you’d like to feel cozy.

most 📸s by @earth__poems & one from @benwilsonpictures from gatherings of olde with the river

see you soon 🐸

The burden and responsibilities are becoming heavier for me as a woman, and each day brings a new challenge.

I previously suffered a jaw injury, and later my foot was badly burned. I am still dealing with the consequences of these difficult circumstances.

On top of this, my daughter is suffering from kidney stones and needs ongoing medical treatment and a replacement of her temporary stent until she can finally undergo the necessary procedure.

Now, as we approach the beginning of a new school year, I feel the weight of responsibility more than ever. My children need basic school supplies, food, and medical care, and I am doing everything I can to provide for them.

That is why I am reaching out to you, my dear friends, asking you to stand by me and support me as you have done before.

Any help, no matter how small, means so much to us and gives us a little hope during these very difficult days.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has stood by me and refused to leave me alone. 🤍
