Many thanks to University of Redlands Conservatory of Music for making Harp Day possible. We had a wonderful day of improvisation, career development, composition, harp maintenance basics, and a wonderful concert featuring a hybrid of works from Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and South China). The concert was curated with the intention of bridging intercultural connections through traditional, contemporary avant-garde, and rock and roll genres. This day would not have been possible without the assistance from staff through the Conservatory of Music. Special thanks to Joe Modica, Brad Andrews, and Sarah Rodnick for your support in making harp day possible. Thank you to our guest composers in residence for the day Christopher Adler @christopheradlerdotcom and Nichagarn Chiracharasporn @nichagarncomposer for their compositional excellence and wisdom in their art as well as “Sastramoon” @sastramoonband @raneprakarts for their innovative work on reimagining traditional Southeast Asian folk songs with the fusion of psychedelic rock and roll music. Thank you to our Harp Regulator (harp doctor) Gabriel Diaz for your continued education on instrument maintenance. Last but not least, thank you to the participants who came and enjoyed the day. Special thanks to UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music @uclaalpert students and alum for your visit to our campus.
