It’s always odd, to say the least, to grieve on days of celebration. It feels “wrong” but it’s not, it’s just different. We can be resentful of those who are celebrating “normally” or we can remember why we are grieving in the first place: love. Ironically, this is the same reason others celebrate.

But is it ironic? Or is it one and the same and just different parts of the same timeline?

My father’s day may not look like barbecues and fishing but it does look like sharing memories and checking in with others that are grieving for whatever reasons too. The love is not expressed the same but it is all still love at the end of the day. And for that, I am grateful. 🕊️
