words are still forming to describe the love overflowing in my heart from this weekend. when I say, it owes me NOTHINGGGGG!? I mean it because it gave me everything & then some.

from planning to speaking to laughing & crying. memories that will last generations from now were made this weekend and I am so grateful that God loves me enough to give me one of the most special gifts in life—-Spelman College—and it’s the gift that keeps on giving! 🩵

7 YEARS of Bookish HTX Bookclub 🥹

As April nears its end, I’m sitting in so much gratitude reflecting on 7 years of @bookish.htx. We’ve read over 70+ books and have tried so many Houston restaurants. I can’t believe it. 🙌🏽

Back when @blackgirlthatreads and I started this book club in 2019, we were just two friends who simply LOVED reading and were looking for a community of like-minded readers to consistently engage with in Houston.

From those early meetings with just a few of us in the room… to now, with 20+ members each month…we had no clue this group would grow into a powerful sisterhood of women who show up, month after month, to read together. It’s beautiful. So incredibly grateful!

Book friends really are the best friends! 🤎

📖: The Darkest Child by Delores Phillips!

This month, we met at The Post Houston to talk about our April book pick. The Darkest Child is powerful, haunting story that sparked a moving group discussion.

Through the eyes of 13-year-old Tangy Mae, we explored themes of resilience, survival, family, and generational trauma in Jim Crow-era Georgia.

This read was heavy, but necessary. Most of us gave it a solid 5 stars! This one will stay with us!
