Join us wishing him on his Birthday today. A short highlight on his musical career and achivements ;
Ustad Nishat Khan is an internationally acclaimed Sitar Maestro belonging to the illustrious Imdadkhani (Etawah) Gharana of Hindustani classical music. The son and disciple of the legendary Surbahar Maestro Ustad Imrat Khan and nephew of the legendary Sitar Maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan, he carries forward a distinguished musical legacy.

Still feels like yesterday.🎶

I still remember the walk to the stage at the Radio Mirchi Awards—a moment that remains etched in my memory. As a newcomer in Mumbai, surrounded by industry legends, receiving an award for my debut album felt like a dream.

That song was special because of the people behind it: the genius composition by @nishatkhansitar saheb, the masterful programming by @tubbys_music , and the soul-stirring words of @manojyadavwrites

Years have passed, but the magic of that song still feels as alive as the day it was released. ❤️

Grateful for the journey and the people who made it possible.

FRI, MAR 6 | Sitarist Nishat Khan will pay tribute to his friend and longtime collaborator, the great Zakir Hussain. See their beautiful musical connection in this clip from 2010.

In celebration of what would have been Ustad Zakir Hussain’s 75th birthday, Nishat Khan will perform this special concert at The Freight in tribute. In 2024 the global music world lost a luminary when Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73. It was also a great loss for the music community of the Bay Area to which Zakir had called home for many years.

Nishat Khan will be accompanied by @gourisankartabla on tabla.
