🎧 ERRRT—DJ, CUT THE TRACK.
Introducing MY BROTHAS | THE C-MIX 🎤🔥
With the recent controversy surrounding Fat Joe’s comments about Black identity and his use of the N-word, the conversation around culture, proximity and permission is once again front and center.
So I decided to address it through the music.
Can we keep the brotherhood, beats, flows, energy and cultural connection without believing proximity to Blackness automatically grants access to every part of Black culture?
This is my conscious flip of a Hip-Hop classic: MY BROTHAS.
People over slang.
PROXIMITY ≠ PERMISSION.
Thank you @mybameco for the opportunity, encouragement and feedback, and for creating space for independent artists to contribute to this movement. 🙏🏾
Big love to @mustard, @iambig7 @nittycane and everyone who helped build the foundation and opportunity behind this C-MIX.
Respect to YG, Jeezy & the late Rich Homie Quan for their contributions to the original record and its legacy.
🕊️ IN MEMORY OF RARE BREED
🕊️ RIP RICH HOMIE QUAN
Same culture. New conversation.
DJ… run MY BROTHAS. 🎧🔥
