POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We are very proud to share that Northern Illinois University’s Supermileage team has won the top prize at the 13th annual Shell Eco-Marathon Americas this April in California. It’s an international competition for students to build and drive single-occupant, ultra-fuel-efficient vehicles to create the most energy-efficient car. The team’s hand-built car, Huskie Rocket, struck a record of covering nearly the distance from DeKalb to California on a single gallon of gas.
It’s the 10th year of the team. Each year, members make important updates on the same core vehicle design to keep the vehicle competitive and push the limits of engineering. In its eighth year at the Shell competition, the team already had a reputation as a successful team.
These students really epitomize the capabilities and high quality of NIU students in engineering. We want to celebrate their success and applaud for their perseverance, ingenuity and family-like teamwork!
