As the school year comes to a close and summer begins, this month we are recognizing YOU and your chapters incredible accomplishments throughout the school year. Swipe to check-out a few of the thousands of accomplishments our local chapters have earned this year.

1) Out of 200 students total, MMACHS has 130 HOSA members. This chapter has won numerous State Leadership Conference and International Leadership Conference medals. The majority of Idaho State Officers have attended MMACHS. The entirety of MMACHS HOSA is 110% dedicated to our organization, regardless of their small size.
2) At a public school that is not specialized in biology, sciences, or medicine, besides our required science classes there was really no place for the medically driven kids to cultivate their interest! Now we do! We attended our first in-person conference last year not expecting to win anything and to just gain experience of what it would be like for the future, but ended up walking away with one first place medal in medical assisting and 2 7th place medals from our chapter’s one CPR/first aid team. Out of our very small group who decided to compete, it truly was an a amazing experience that encourages us to continue our time with HOSA!
3) Hobart High School’s HOSA chapter recognizes the importance of service to humanity and in the field of healthcare; members actively engage in service opportunities such as hosting blood drives, organizing the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer game, and fundraising for NMDP!
4) Although going through a rough patch starting a HOSA chapter and dealing with the challenges the pandemic brought on, the WCHS HOSA chapter is once again on the road to success and cannot wait to interact with everyone at ILC!

We appreciate the efforts of all of our chapters and cannot wait to see you all in Houston very soon!

**Million Dollar Match: May 23rd 2024**

Thank you to all our volunteers, our neighboring hosa chapters, teachers, and the mayor for coming and helping out with the Million Dollar Match! We were able to raise over $3500 for the National Marrow Donor Program, formerly known as bethematch. Another big thank you to everyone who came!

This past January, your Secondary Board Representative, Deepa Subramanya, attended the NJ HOSA 2024 Northern Regional Conference and got to help out behind-the-scenes at their kick-off conference of the year! Two weeks later, NJ HOSA also hosted their 2024 Southern Regional Conference. Her conference tip for you all is to bring your best, whether as a state officer or a member, to your event and to everything the conference has to offer. And as always, remember to be your authentic self throughout, as you network with members, engage in workshops, and continue to grow as a future health professional!

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, for this months edition of “HOSA Highlights” we will be spotlighting our wonderful advisors who are the backbone of our organization! Please be sure to thank your advisors during this week. Now, let’s show our advisors some appreciation!

1. Mr. Wydick is being spotlighted for his continuous efforts at supporting his HOSA members and ensuring the continuation of the program at their local high school
2. Mrs. LiVecchi, along with her colleagues at Union County Vocational Technical Schools, work countless hours to ensure the success of their HOSA chapter. From organizing events and meetings to preparing for conferences, she always put her HOSA members first.
3. Mrs. Lard lives and breathes HOSA. It is evident in the way that she pushes each of her students to become the best versions of themselves and encourages them to always go the "Extra" mile! No matter who you are or what school you're from, Mrs. Lard is someone that will always have your back.
4. A Golden Apple plaque is an award given to a teacher who has greatly impacted an honor graduate along their educational journey. This year, Mrs. Maddox received six golden apples for six different honor graduates!
5. Ms. Lesniak organized after school training sessions so she and her HOSA chapter members could complete the Wisconsin Respite Care Provider Training (RCPT) program. She also coordinated all event managers and judges for Wisconsin HOSA’s regional and state conferences. We thank Ms. Lesniak for all her efforts!
6. Mrs. Dodson embodies the HOSA spirit through her huge heart and her tireless dedication and love for her students. She is not only the advisor for Middleton high school, but also the regional advisor for Suncoast HOSA. Suncoast HOSA and Middleton Highschool HOSA are lucky to have superwoman right here in Tampa, Florida!
7. Frank Sakelarios is the prime example of an outstanding advisor. He has been a HOSA advisor at CHS for 15 years, and has seen many students grow and thrive in the program. He is an amazing teacher and mentor, who never fails to lift up his students in and out of the classroom.
