Molting is rough.. poor Daytona molts so slowly, and looks a mess! He is grumpy though, and standing up to Indy more… so maybe it’s a good thing? #daytona #racetrackflock #muscovyduck #muscovyducksofinstagram #moltingduck

It’s been at least a year since we had the whole flock together. While it started out well, Daytona and Sonoma got into a big ok fight. Poor Sonoma essentially got a black eye and a bit bloodied. Only supervised flock time for a bit longer. They do enjoy getting out in the sun and grass though!! #racetrackflock #muscovyduckofinstagram #indy #daytona #sonoma #phoenix #maddy #bristol #ducksofinstagram #flockparty

We were quite surprised to see Hagrid at the beach for sunset last night. I guess our postcard home made her a little jelly.

Proof that you shouldn’t underestimate what a goose will do when they want to be featured for #duckducktues

Be sure to tag @shadyduck_gardens and myself, use the hashtag and visit other Duck Duck Tues contributors!!!

Been a moment, but so many updates for our baby Maddy. Maddy has been off two meds for a month, been out with her sisters and a Bristol all day, and just not all night with the girls!! We had a very tiny setback, her Uric acid is back up. Not huge, but very much not the directions wanted. With her level of kidney failure higher uric acid levels may just been her normal. Continue to check her, but right on we got our Christmas wish!! Our precious Madison❤️❤️❤️.

Duck Duck Tues began with legendary ducks, Ben & Jerry, who sadly met with a hawk.

In an effort to stop the flood of tears, I did what any struggling recovering suburbanite would do, buy her sad kids more ducks to deflect the pain of the harsh reality of farm life.

Ron (especially) & Hermione (not so much) became the embodiment of #duckducktues with their delightful personality, temperament and waddle.

But as life moves on, hawks once again become hungry and invade where they aren’t welcome.

I made this montage, at my son Gabe’s request, to honor his bestie duck, Ron, who failed to be protected by our sleeping guard dog, whose sleep cycle is soooo not what I need it to be.

May you enjoy this, smile a bit, and also go watch our YouTube video titled, The Life of Ron.

Please tag the amazing @shadyduck_gardens and myself in your duck or goose photo and use the hashtag #duckducktues

Maddy showing off her lovely new feathers. She recently had a checkup and her doctor was very pleased with how shes doing. Waiting on blood test results, and we might be able to stop some of her meds. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 #maddy #madison #racetrackflock #muscovy #muscovyducksofinstagram #muscovyducks

It’s alarming when your home becomes the set of a horror film.

Today, millions (ok thousands) of black birds descended onto our property for a frightful 10 minutes.

The boujie chickens became unglued.

Egg laying ceased. Frantic and erratic behavior with zig zags here and there and everywhere. . . Until the Hitchcock movie 🎥 decided to play at another location.

There was no time for popcorn.

Everyone is currently safe and resting.

And this only cemented my thoughts that being trapped in a cage with wild birds would be my worst nightmare.

How’s your day going?
