“Kapag para sa’yo, para sa’yo.” A Filipino saying that means, “What’s meant for you will find you.” Those words carried me through months of applications, interviews, speeches, and campaigns. With a rosary in hand, even up to the moment I was sworn in, I trusted the process and found peace in knowing that whatever waited on the other side was meant to be.

Three years ago, I moved here looking for a place to belong. I found that in SkillsUSA. Ironically, one of the first questions I asked was, “It’s called SkillsUSA but what if I’m not from the USA?” Now, I have the privilege of serving as a SkillsUSA National Officer representing over 444,000 members nationwide and continuing New Mexico’s legacy as its 12th national officer since 1965.

To every single delegate, teammate, and advisor who took a chance on me, thank you. I can’t think of a greater honor than spending my final year as an active member giving back to the organization and serving the people who gave me a home.
