Two competitors. Two prep schools. One sport.

They went out there and battled, and when the match was over, they left the bitterness on the mat.

No hard feelings. No carrying it into the next match. Just two young athletes who can compete fiercely and still respect one another afterward.

This might not be what all athletes do but it’s what GOD WANTS us to do.

You can compete against someone without becoming their ENEMY. You can want to win without wishing the other person FAILURE .

Wrestling teaches a lot more than how to win. It teaches humility, resilience, respect and character.

Compete hard. Shake hands. Move forward.
Do better people. When your child does wrong let them know. I tell my son when he moves against god and he tries better the next time. They are not perfect neither am I .
And if you think this post is about you , your coaching style or parenting style …YOUR PROBABLY RIGHT 🎤

* I just want to say thank you to @nmhwrestling and @nick_topflight for being in my corner the whole tournament. Still haven’t proven anything yet — but I’m coming for it all.

Today 7 years ago I visited @nmhwrestling while I was coaching Springfield College Wrestling. A bunch of these guys did/ are doing big things in the sport. I watched at least two of them garner Division 1 All-American honors. Funny where this sport will take you and it’s a good reminder greatness is closer than you might think.
