This weekend, the Wild Horses team and I began production on Get On With It. To quote Walt Disney, "Listen...we are f***ing KILLING IT!"

Day 1, we filmed the entire first act, introducing 4 of the 5 main characters at a house party. Right away, the four actors (@jordan.nevels, @lilygojcevic, @michaelshedrick, and @mario_espino) are doing amazing work. They each have their own quirks and personas, and together, they have great chemistry.

@taylergilbert_ is our cinematographer, and he's been able to take a lot of our resources we were all too familiar with, add on to them, and give this Wild Horses film a more unique look and feel. @lizzi_leigh is our co-producer; this weekend, she was also our set designer and script supervisor. And I made this announcement recently--@rachelklewickifilm became my co-director, and I couldn't be happier for it because Rachel is so deeply immersed into this project that I loved seeing what she would come up with, we would bounce ideas off of each other to see which one lands in the moment, and it all works. It's also just wonderful seeing her directing skills continue to grow, and I believe in her.

Taking small but memorable roles this day were @ayochevy & @swinescupltingfx and @earlmcwilliams & @zalinadb as two sets of pressuring parents (also: shout-out to Zalina for letting us film in her house!), as well as @cappskeenan & @kctheaterguy as the anti-versions of Michael & Mario's characters (my direction was make audiences happy the movie isn't about them). And we also had a few extras to add to the party atmosphere.

Day 2 (Sunday the 13th), I was very excited for because it involved filming scenes that I didn't write--it's a subplot involving Lily & Jordan's characters, written by Lily and Rachel, that I believe elevates the story and makes it more special than what I had originally written.

It's hard to believe I wrote this script 10 years ago, and now it's being made by 3 of my favorite people in the world: Rachel, Lily, and Liz. We're a team. Separately, we jog at a decent pace. Together, we run with the Wild Horses!

Everyone always told me to not rush my high-school years, that they would be over before I knew it. I never believed them, but here I am and I have no words to describe how shocked I am. It feels like just yesterday I was attending my first day of high-school, and now I'm off to college 🎓🥳

Got to start my day with this group! Here’s some scripture that has been speaking to one of them. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭That’s what we will do during our new normal. Trust in God!!!

What a great day! Started with CYC at MCMS then ended with small group with these guys! It was so good to pray with them and hear the things that God is speaking to them right now! I am blessed to be on this journey with them. And I know it looks a little weird right now, but we know that God will not only take us thru this! He will make us better too!

Great small group tonight thanks to Zoom!! This is definitely a new way to do this, but we are doing it together! Just like Peter we are stepping out the boat and into this storm! We know that Jesus will calm the storm and return us safely to the boat!!

Had a great small group tonight with these amazing young men! Sure we weren’t able to get together in person, but that’s a week sauce move by the enemy. We got Zoom!!! Take that devil! “For We are convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” I am so lucky to be a part of their lives. They inspire me! They will do great things in the future! Yes, I know the future seems a little shaky right now. Sure they took away the rest, the end of their senior year! Sure you might have to fight someone to the death for a roll of toilet paper, or travel size of hand sanitizer! Actually guys I encourage you to do what Jesus told you to do and give away your last roll of toilet paper! 😂 Yes, the whole world seems to have lost its mind! But “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” We will get through this better together! Love you guys!!
