Bronze Match

This entire bracket was stacked, and Benson’s bronze medal match was about as tough as it gets in their division.

Benson and @nmwjiujitsu were already familiar with each other. We had the opportunity to train with Nolan at a camp over the summer, so Benson knew exactly the level of athlete standing across from him.

Nolan trains out of one of the top BJJ gyms in Las Vegas @sdacademy_cobrinhahenderson a room producing some of the best young talent in the game right now. Nothing about this match was going to come easy.

After losing his first match of the tournament, Benson had fought his way all the way back to this moment.

One more match. One more opportunity to make the podium.

Benson was able to find a deep Americana and somehow get the finish. What a battle between two talented young competitors.

Benson didn’t get the gold he came for, but I’m proud of the way he responded when things didn’t go according to plan. He stayed in the fight, won four straight, and earned his way onto the podium.
